Twine is at best hot and cold - I don’t rate him, Zaroury’s talented but had a massive tail off and list his place at Burnley and they slated his lack of effort. A number of those you mentioned are ‘inexperienced kids’ by our definition are they not ? They’re definitely young

I was just pointing out how many players they had on loan from teams in the top divisions, I don’t think Twine actually featured much and got sent back.

The youngest of those I’ve mentioned are 21 and have a few seasons under their belt at this level or higher. Tyler Morton has 2 full seasons in the championship, pretty much what Dan Neil has and people seem to claim he’s experienced now. Their “front 4” towards the end of the season was Tufan, Carvalho, Philogene and Omur/Delap. How many of our players get into that? I’d argue that even Clarke would struggle to start over Philogene before he picked up an injury.

There’s no way anyone can say with a straight face that their squad had a load of average players last season if you genuinely think we have abundances of talent in ours.

Thin, our Dads would’ve got on as mine was the same! Normally threw the last punch too! Nails! Which makes me wonder why I’m soft as ****e <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Me granda from shields was 6'4" and hard as nails but a lovely, quiet, placid bloke. Me Da was 6'2" and still wanted to knock fookers out into his 70's with emphysema FFS  <laugh><laugh>

Thought your last point was interesting so thought id pull together a joint team and i had 5 of our players in it - i would have a 6th (cirkin) but didnt count him since he was injured for most of the season

Patterson
Hume ballard greaves giles/jacobs
Neil morton
Philogene carvalho clarke
Delap (or tufan as a false 9)

Cheated a little as clarke n philogene play the same position but both too good to leave out

Harsh on seri but Neil was better than him n morton this yr n i perfer morton to seri

They have some class championship players but also a lot of bang average players

He did well last season imo, the 6 teams that finished above them all had better teams or squads (or in ipswichs case just an unreal season)
That team bucks the league by 10 points.

Vinagre played 10 games before he was recalled. Twine was so bad that his loan was cancelled (and he's never consistently performed above League 1). Zaroury played 12 games after barely playing football for the first half of the season. Delap's best season in the Championship before this season was 4 goals. Tufan is a 29 year old forward who scored 40 goals in his entire career.

They had some good players for sure. Their squad might also be better than ours, but I'm not sure how relevant that is to his performance.

They didn't have a squad that should have been certainties for the playoffs.

Twine was that ****e he had 7 goal contributions in 20 starts by the way. Think Bellingham had that all season playing pretty much every game and we rave about him. Tufan is a full international with champions league experience and played as a CM most of his career at Fenerbahce of course he doesn’t have loads of goals, moved up to the 10 role and he scored more goals last season than anyone in our squad bar Clarke.

Seri, Tufan, Carvalho, Greaves, Philogene walk into our squad absolutely no doubt about it.

Ozan Tufan was never a forward mind, used to play centre mid.

People just rewriting things for their narratives, Rosenior underachieved with the squad he had in the end...if he had that squad at the beginning im sure he would've got top 6, but it's all ifs buts and maybes.

He might be a good manager or he might be limited, I don't know!
What I do know is he'd be underwhelming in the grand scheme of things, even if he ended up being brilliant.

Like Mowbray, underwhelming, but what he achieved, to me, was breathtaking, it rekindled my love of football.

Some quality highlighted here. Do you think that team could stay up in the prem ? (At risk of going off track)

Ideally want someone in in the next couple of days. Transfer window opens on Friday. Would be good for the new coach to come in and be part of transfer plans with Speakman/Harvey prior to the window actually opening.

Pretty much spot on to what I had in my head but i think but I’d have Seri and Neil in the midfield with Tufan as the F9. Think Seri just oozes class that we lack.

On paper Greaves, Morton, Seri, Philogene, Carvalho, Giles and Zaroury are exceptional for this level. Omur and Ohio should be very good too. Maybe even Tufan and Delap.

He had the team performing better before half of those were brought in though so maybe too much change was inflicted in one go on a group that was doing already doing well.
January incomings were big at Hull. They were doing well and the owner went for it. If only it were so easy to bring players in mid season. It was like the owner was playing championship manager there.

This is what I don't get. Everyone saying they had a fantastic squad. They had 2 or 3 very good players, the rest were okay.
People got wowed in Jan at their signings. They really were never at the level of the 3 relegated sides. Ipswich were loads better. That leaves folk demanding they finish above Norwich or West Brom. Far from clean cut.

They had Carvalho, Delap, Zaroury, Giles, Morton, Vinagre and Twine all loaned from top tier teams… Philogene and Omur came in for close to £10m.. to add to the likes of Seri (better than any of our midfielders even at the age he is now), Tufan, Greaves, Slater who are all very good at this level.

If you had to make a combined Xl of both squads last team Hull would have more players than us by far.
Which is why we finished 16th, along with some awful decision making re head coaches.

Nah i dont think it would, the step up is massive. Patterson isnt near PL standard, the defence is lacking pace (ballard n greaves are PL standard imo but not as a combo), fullbacks are good enough for PL (cirkin def could be if he stays fit). CM lacks experience, to @WorkyTicketFTM point if it was a PL game id have seri in there for his experience.

I do like the 3 in behind the strikers tho, thats the real quality but tufan n delap aint scoring enough goals to keep that team up

I thought the two full backs were the weak links instantly and the striker.
