I once sat next to him on the Monday morning Newcastle to London flight when he was at the Mags. I was surrounded by the great unwashed all of them lauding him and telling him how he had to stuff the mackem b******* in a couple of weeks. He was travelling to London for a FA disciplinary meeting.
About 30 mins into the flight, he turned to me and said quietly ' Are you a Sunderland supporter?' to which I smiled, and he smiled back and said 'Your secret is safe with me.'
