He was never even spoken to by KS.
Eric was offered to us twice due to ties with the family.
Eric was KLDs dad 1st Adidas sponsored layer at Marseille their dads were great friends.

Wouldn't you think then Bob,it's highly likely that,if Eric was available to us at some point, and KLD really wanted him,he would have instructed KS to go and get him?
In fact, given the family ties you speak of,it's entirely probable that he would have spoken to Eric personally to explore the possibility?

See this is the thing, it's not news. There's nothing in the news.

If someone posts something saying that they've heard or aware of something that's up to them and we can choose to believe it or not.

You've just posted that "other people said this" and saying it's news.

You've quoted someone from rtg saying it's done, the same person from rtg a day later saying Norwich are after him and it's not done, someone else from rtg who was joking about it being done, the twitter comments thinking it's Rosenior and then a back and forth with some random on Twitter who is saying the players don't want Still.

Literally nothing has happened (maybe we're close to getting Still) but you have 5 narratives going on in the same thread from everywhere else.

I'm not suggesting you have anything but good intentions, but it's difficult when people check back here for news and there's 30 new pages on the thread to read through which include a bloke who named himself flapjack on twitter who told you that the players don't want Still - that's not news.

That's all fair enough mate, you talk a lot of sense.

On the other hand you have to accept this is just a chat forum not a news channel ...

... I was told on 11th April that Still had been offered the job and negotiations started.

I just pm'd two posters I trust, but don't know personally, to tell them and leave a trace. I didn't post it because it's just not worth the bother and just ends up with criticism at best, abuse at worst. That's a shame because this is just a bit of a harmless gossip column that should be a laugh, not Crown Court.

I'm assuming I'm a third poster you messaged because I can't be one of the trusted two and you do know me personally after meeting at the SoL once for all of 4 seconds as I ran to beat the half time queue for a beer.

But I can verify this.

No you're one of the two mate.

I remember our encounter very well, I was really touched that you ran over to shake hands in the South Stand.

I was obviously right to trust you as you haven't spilled a single bean <laugh>

Genuine question, I haven't followed his career but know he is doing well now.

When he was offered to us, was he doing a head coach job? Had he started at Brest?

Honestly as much as you have always pushed for him, way back before Brest as far as I recall, I don't think until recently his coaching experience suggested he would have been a success and a good choice for us and now I assume it is too late why would he move now?
Because we are a big club?

Also, once you play for Sunderland, it gets in your blood

I take pride in being the ultimate OTK. Can't risk ruining that without a steady pipeline to keep it up.

I think I agree with both of you. All of the "Rozzle on RTG says its done but Hairybotcrack says it can't be because Teacake on Twitter met a bloke in a Taxi rank who gave Speakman a lift to Dundee" stuff gets tedious as it does when the human Enigma machines start rattling away and the place becomes like Bletchley Park.

But this isn't TASS, it isn't the official news feed of the club, so people shouldn't get arsey if the thread goes off on a tangent for a bit and people should be able to post in good faith "I've heard X, take it or leave it" (I find these kinds of people much more believable than the try hards, by the way).

The information vacuum from the club causes all this to some extent I suppose. So, as soon as the new head coach is announced (whoever that may be) we can put all this behind us.

And go back to doing exactly the same thing over new signings.

I think the club are doing things really well which antagonises some weird people and gives then cart blanche to have yet another go at SAFC ...

... I also didn't post because I respect the club and the chap who told me, although it wasn't strictly in confidence.

He has no interest in Sunderland and isn't in the football world, just a fortunate chance encounter.

I get loads of info about Newcastle but that's of no interest tbh, the latest is that half a dozen players want away.

My house is still on Maric

I can sleep in peace tonight.

Roy has done class at Brest this season, very experienced squad (3rd oldest in the league) so be interesting to know how he is with younger players. Reims had the 7th youngest team out of interest

Will still has a better win % than Roy does as a manager so far in their careers
