I think it would depend on the age group i'd say

These lads were probably 40-50 going off how they look.

There's something very real about a known commodity though, I could tell you about this great coach, Serge-Blogoj Vukovic, previously coached at Chievo, Ancona (gained promotion) and Real Oviedo, has a 65% win record at his most recent club Hajduk Split where he defied the odds to finish runner-up, Lazio, Heerenveen and Sociadad have been linked with him recently. That's all a lie.

He's made up, but some would be beating their chops with one hand and opening wikipedia to search him with the other. People need grounding man.

Im in the same camp as you, its def dragging on and will only be worth it if we nail it - which of course we might

I try to not get too up or down until the appointment has been made, that way i can then decide whether its been worth the wait or not. I think if it is Still then hes clearly been at the top of our list, top of that succession plan everyone is mentioning and the club have gone all out for him

I also get folks frustrations over this though as it doesnt look good at the minute

One of the worries now is that all of the good will has been used up. Even if Still was first choice, many fans will feel like he had reservations about being here. That's going to mean he has to hit the ground running as there will be a like a patience from a lot of fans.

The club have made this harder for themselves. A good appointment is almost not good enough, it will have to be great. They've left themselves no margin for error with a lot of fans.

That would work if Jansen was indeed a lie haha. But these coaches aren't made up and they are coming over to england and having the most success. Even this trend of assistants taking over clubs or being in the first year or two of their career, Maresca, McKenna, Kompany, Rohl, Cifuentes and more. There seems to be a trend where these known english managers aren't the ones having the success

Lens still haven’t lost their manager so I’m pretty sure that Still is just “waiting” for that post to free up. Can’t help but think if he was coming here it would be done by now.

I don’t think the club are waiting for him anymore. I reckon the delay is literally finalising things with the plan B or C option

Cifuentes doesn't fit that description mind.

Think that says more about the fans tbh, we will never get anywhere if we chase every manager out of town

None of us know the exact reason why its taken so long so whoever comes in, we should be given them the benefit of doubt and that they want to come here

If it is Still, he doesnt have to come here so if he does come, ill look at it as he wants to come manager my club

Let's see if they've done the right thing.
There's no guarantee us taking MONTHS to appoint someone is going to be the right thing to do either? There's no guarantees in football but there are definitely right and wrong processes and we are definitely edging towards the wrong process.

The longer it goes, the worst the backlash from our fans is going to be if we announce a Robinson, Challinor, Heckingbottom or, even, a Rosenior. It’s going to be huge anyway mind.

Having had this go on so long now, it is going to have to be someone that a sizeable proportion of the fans are in favour of.

I’m not usually one for pandering to fans’ whims but the atmosphere welcoming an ‘underwhelming’ appointment would make the job nigh on an impossible task for the new man.
Shouldn't be any back lash, should just support whoever the manager is, there is no guarantees Still would be any better than someone like Rosenior

Maresca managed Parma and played for WBA, McKenna is British, Kompany managed Anderlecht and had a world-class playing career, Cifentes managed extensively in Scandinavia.

Rohl fair enough.

I may be miles off but I wonder if Fishpaste is being used by the club to get news out there and manage expectations. The tidbits he's had were the three weeks thing (which fitted with when the club were expecting/hoping Still would be done) when everyone thought something must be imminent and then Still being out of the running when everyone thought it was basically done.

If that is right and it's that long since we've known Still is done (rather than the Friday Walker announcement) then it suggests we're now struggling to land our subsequent choices too. :(

To be fair succession planning is the buzz phrase used by Speakman. I've said previously he spouts that much corporate talk he sets himself up for a fall. It also doesn't seem to be that difficult for other clubs, it was February man. People are quite rightly concerned because whilst head coaches wont be involved in negotiations, players will be interested in who they will be playing for.

Don't disagree with any of that. Not really interested in other clubs.....it's whether we get the right man. Time is tight,I agree. If it's taken since Feb,but our appointment is successful,no-one will care about the delay and, it'll be interesting to see how many other clubs are binning their new Coaches before the end of November.

This is my feeling now. Just hope with all the talk of the likes of Jansen we are not disappointed.
Think with everything that has gone on since TM left the club and supporters really need a lift.
Whoever comes in will get he majority of fans support but the Beale appointment set us back
Jansen I think would give everyone a lift

I'm certain Haise will move to Nice and Still will be announced at Lens within hours of that. No evidence at all but gut feeling.

I think Still's potential appointment here has actually been tainted now anyway, to the point that I would say he's a bad hire given there's no chance he gets a clean slate from a lot of our fans.

Rohl fair enough.
Looks like I got mistaken with Cifuentes but it still applies to the rest, Not managed too long at all or they've been an assistant. Kompany was only at Anderlecht for 2 seasons. Maresca managed Parma for 14 games, hardly really being a manager

No-one has any guarantees for any of it mate and the only definition of right and wrong process is if it's ultimately successful.

But that is the reality. Everyone around me in the North Stand was calling Beale worse than ****e in the Coventry game, an hour into his reign, it was toxic from the off. At this stage the club are going to have to be conscious of this as regardless of how good a, say, Challinor is he doesn't stand a chance if the fans are on his back from the off. Momentum is massive, nowhere more so than here, and it's nigh on impossible to build from a standing start (or from being on the back foot).
