I keep seeing certain people claiming Sunderland are a laughing stock.

Can they tell me if they think Stoke are a laughing stock for wasting millions on Alex Neil then sacking him.

Are Birmingham a laughing stock for being 6th, sacking their manager and being relegated by that manager.

Are Leeds a laughing stock for wasting millions, failing to go up and being in a huge financial mess.

I could list loads more clubs but I suspect those with blinkers on wouldn't even bother reading.

Sunderland are a Championship club looking for a manager ...

... that's about as funny as it gets tbh.

Yeah I love that phrase laughing stock, but in reality how many clubs or other fans are looking at what we do other then our own fans? Most of the crack on this thread is pathetic tbh.

If you take credit for success you take the rap for failure, you can’t have it both ways. Or did they only get promoted cos the players played well and nowt to do with him
Much of how successful a manager is, is directly proportionate to how good the players at his disposal are. With one of the weakest sides in the division, they were always going to struggle, no matter what he did. As much as we emphasise the importance of a good manager or coach, the people that win and lose football matches are the players.

I'm not medically trained but surely there has to be something seriously unbalanced, about someone, when a football club looking to appoint a football manager means an entire club is a laughing stock ... I suspect it's more to do with that person's insecurity than the club.

N.B. Other totally uninformed opinions are available.

Like I say if he is credited with promotion he is responsible for leaving them in 20th. Can’t have it both ways and who built the team? Was it someone else? Of course you may back Bob up but we don’t know what coin he had to play with do we? They had the worst ever start after 20 games of anyone, including us, with a goal difference of -28 and had just been tonked off another of the weakest sides, 5-0

I havent read all of this thread in detail. We certainly arent a laughing stock and havent seen that claim.

I do know, that some inside the professional game, thought we were stupid for sacking Mowbray. They still scratch their head on that.

I thought Birmingham were idiotic for sacking their manager. I thought we were equally naieve for sacking ours. A case of there but for the grace of God maybe with us?

Stoke, for as bad as they were, and as much as I like chuckling about them, finished same points as us.

Leeds, well time will tell for them I suppose. I think personally they are a basket case of a club in terms of finance and ownership.

Laughing stock isnt a word I would use. I do think though we are in danger here of losing the momentum we had, and in my humble opinion it will be due to naievety in terms of first team decision making. The next appointment will confirm or disprove that.
