But you know football isnt as simple as that. Say they did that and still was the main man and they then took ages to negotiate with him for various reasons, the fans would be kicking off more saying the interviews happened ages a go and nothings been announced
But fans are kicking off anyway over a potential head coach who hasn't actually been linked to us by a media source since December interviewing at another club.

Yes for some, especially people who have been involved in football, we know that things are actually happening and Speakman isn't just sitting around waiting to appoint Dodds, but the wider fanbase are on edge and need something to go on. Take someone like Dodds for example, so many actual football people praise him to the hilt for his player development and individual coaching, yet our fanbase on the whole want him gone from the club completely because he's a poor head coach. The fanbase don't understand the intricacies of the inner workings of football, so they need information from good sources to keep themselves calm.

The optics are all wrong and it'll get to a point where some fans just give up.

I think you're both making good points here. To some extent its a bit Catch 22. Releasing information can bring criticism if something happens that could be interpreted as contradicting that information. But, as we're seeing, the lack of information is creating speculation and people are making up scenarios. On top of some of the things that have happened over the course of the season, it is beginning to look the club should be trying relieve some of the pressure on themselves.
People will always speculate tho, i get what folk are saying i really do. But folk will worry if given information just as much as they would if they didn't - if nothing is officially announced

I trust the ITKs on here more than a journalist in Norwich. Lets see what the next week brings as from what I've been told we will know 1 way or another by then

Getting information doesnt keep people calm tho, or at least not all. My point is that if we came out after the last game and said interviews are happening now but theres no announcement for weeks - folk will panic about that as much as not hearing anything

And where do they stop with leaking info to sources? At every stage of the recruitment process? Every time we are trying to sign a player?

You are never going to keep everyone calm, but you can at least attempt to control the narrative.

Go and look at RTG or someone like MadMistakes YouTube video comment sections, there's probably more people on them than contribute on this site and they have effectively been in meltdown for weeks now. Yes we can say they are idiots and don't know anything but when it gets to a point when the calm ones are in the minority that is an issue.

Player recruitment needs nothing to be said, I personally don't even like Speakman talking about the transfer windows, but things like Head Coach appointments and Directors staying/leaving which can ultimately change the direction of the club for the next 5+ years need to be fed out into the fanbase.

Just catching up Nothing has changed for me.

Looking at the time lines of Magnus and Wheatsheafs posts and being the eternal optimist :

We are in talks with Still last few weeks come to a verbal agreement.
He keeps a promise and talks to Norwich at the weekend (ITK rumours this was happening at the time).
He sees Norwich. Then Monday Tuesday he confirms he's in with us we start tying up the lose ends.
Tuesday Magnus etc start getting word its done.

Today Alan Partridge from Radio Norwich gets word that he was up at the weekend and one or two have a melt down.

That's the optimist in me. Of course there is a pessimistic version that I don't really want to think about

I doubt it personally, the article was based off of a lot of "COULD not be completed" when Still posted on Instagram the other week that he was already on his last week of the course.
And he already has his A licence and is working towards his pro Licence so he already has the qualifications to start now

Just to get their thoughts on how the season turned out, their ambitions for the next one etc just feel like it's been too quiet compared to usual
Think that would encourage a pile on given the way it ended, once we get a head coach in then they can start looking to next season imo

RTG is always on meltdown tho

Social media is always on meltdown

Doesnt matter if they get given information or not - which is my point

Giving information then nothing happening after that will cause a meltdown just as much as not hearing anything does - which is what im saying

No point in going back and forward over this as we wont agree on it at all

I reckon they've got there man but have to wait to announce it. If it's Maric, he's coming from Bayern Munich, not the Dog and Duck.

I'm not looking forward to the nonsense that is going to get spouted in this 3 week void though.
Yeah so the nonsense is starting in the void now <laugh><laugh>

Don't worry about it until something happens man. If they appoint Dodds or a Beale equivalent I'll be the first to boot off. Until then just enjoy the off season

I did wonder if Fishpaste's three weeks story was a bit of expectation management from the club.

I like this way of thinking haha

if it means anything will still will officially be the new gaffer on the 1st of june, chill, if he doesn't become are gaffer i won't post again
I bet you'd love to put on exactly how you know and it might stop a few from having a melt down. Obviously I know you can't but must be frustrating

Brief the media a bit, give them bits, take control of it.

They are in control of it. They are doing their work out of public view and in confidence, just as it should be. There are no leaks, because they are keeping control.

Just because supporters want reassurance doesn’t mean that the club should be doing their business in public just to please people on the internet who feel they are entitled to be told about every enquiry, negotiation or interview that takes place.
