I think Dodds deserves respect. None of this was his fault. He tried to help out and did his best but he failed to implement the right strategies to win games so has some way to go and needs to be in a supporting role. He does know the players though so he will help support any incomer. That said it’s unfair and foolish to expect an incomer not to use their preferred approach or what’s the point in having them. Speakman’s comments about ‘letting them bring an assistant if they make sense’ smacks of his dominance to be honest. I go back to what I’ve said for ages, it’s a bad time to lose an operator but we have to have someone else’s mindset on decision making or we’ll get the errors of the last two years. Him having too much power again this summer will be a mistake, but him going will be too messy. Talk of others having an input be it Poyet or the foreign name is welcome to me because I don’t trust a clearly arrogant man not to make the same errors. We do want his good bits.
