I just think I've got enough actual problems to worry about that becoming a toxic pit of wretched dread about Sunderland's signings doesn't appeal to me.

The lads we signed last year are young and might hit their stride as fantastic players. Not much point taking them out the back with a shotgun and a shovel just yet.

Might be the same this year. They might take a while to get going. That's OK. I'm not in a huge rush to see the club move up to the plateau of the premier league's mid table where the only place we can go from is down.

I like Sunderland in the championship. I liked them in league one. I'll like them if we get to the premier league.
Exactly my view mate.

Me included.

I watched him closely during a couple of games and he really couldn't be bothered.

What's the point of 'bribing' someone to come to Sunderland when their heart's not in it.

Would Mbappe try as hard at Sunderland as he would at Man City ...

... the answer is 'no'.

Besides, not everyone sees the attraction of Roker Beach and Penshaw Hill.
I was up Penshaw hill a couple of weeks back, and I thought the Lakes was cold.<yikes>

How many coaches have won any International tournament? How many have won anything with England? How many coaches have got England to the final of an international tournament? Sven had the so called 'Golden Generation' and won nothing while being wedded to the same formation and trying to crowbar players into positions that didn't utilise them to their best.

That setting us up not to be beaten is the reason we were in the position to win those tournaments.
I'm not disputing other coaches have made a balls up of winning things, I'm talking about Southgate bottling it and not agreeing with you about him being the right man for the job. You're sounding very angry by the way, it's only a discussion

I'm not angry in the slightest. You asked what he'd won with arguably the best set of players around. I put forward some other questions to illustrate the point that winning international tournaments is an impossibly high bench mark against which to judge a coach's ability. One chance very two years.

I don't think he bottled anything. He's stuck to his guns throughout, despite public criticism that he should be more attacking against the lesser teams, and he's got us further in more tournaments than any other manager. There's a reasonable argument that he's not tactically flexible enough.

He's useless mate and has bottled the last 2 competitions, that's enough for me to believe he's ****e and shouldn't be anywhere near the england job but because the FA are weak and cowards then he'll probably be there for a while

OH and if anyone is interested Will Still had a French scout/agent here on Saturday.

However WHU have already spoken to Will, no idea about what, but they defo have.
I was told Still is a big WHU fan.

Bit puzzled with this one Bob, don't understand why he'd be there tbh. He can't be assessing the players in an end of season nothing match.
It can't be a club scout, they wouldn't allow it.

Any idea what he was doing?
