I’ve been looking for a quote from Brian Clough, albeit unsuccessfully, where he was asked about which manager would make Sunderland great again. I certainly can’t remember his exact words, but he said that the Sunderland job was too big for him. He was then given a few other names of high profile and successful managers. He said that even for them the Sunderland job was too big. He went on to say that the next manager to wake up Sunderland would be a complete unknown. Maybe in RLB we have that “unknown@ coach?
Seems like it doesn't it. He's been completely unruffled by the size of the job/task from day one and has done things entirely his own way to great effect. Very nice and likeable bloke but not to be underestimated.
Done a hell of a job their manning especially given what happened in his personal life, plays a good brand of football too fancy Norwich to be up there amongst the play off hunt next year
Big fan of Manning here. Bit surprised he is leaving Bristol City for Norwich mind. I dont really see Norwich challenging anytime soon.
I like him personally. Been spells last season and the start of this one i really loved his style. He’s so stubborn to the detriment of the team though. I know they had injuries but 17th and 38 points is so so bad like. Yes he won a trophy but that’s a relegation type performance a lot of the time and their target was top 4. If I was spurs, I’d move him on because if he gets off to a slow start the fans will want him out and then you’ve wasted a summer. Tough one though after he won them a decent trophy.
Hard to sack a gaffer that wins a european pot and gets champions league I suppose. He just has become a bit divisive in the media and they have seen off more managers than Levy could dream of.
I used to like the bloke, cant say the same now Fair play on winning the Europa but 17th in the league? 22 defeats from 38 games. He’d be gone for me.
I have to admit that I like the bloke. Really do love a coach that stands up for what they believe in and I absolutely love the way he treats the media, they've had a free ride for way too long over here. Also helps that when he gets teams playing his style of football it's unbelievable to watch. However, if i'm Levy or whoever the decision maker is i'm saying thank you but goodbye. I know it's hard to do but they have a chance at recruiting a genuine top class coach because of the Champions League qualification.
Franke big favourite. I am not sure that would be a good fit personally. If they move, and I suspect they will, Marco Silva could be a good shout. I would love to see Inzaghi in the prem but that isnt happening anytime soon. Can they attract a really top end coach? Not many easy to get this summer?
Yeah I have no idea who they could get. I like Iraola at Bournemouth but is he worth sacking a trophy winner for? The race to get Nagelsmann next summer after the World Cup is the one to watch.
Guys, this time last year. We didn’t know about the wonderful French man that was about to come in and change our lives
