That's the trouble with models, they have to evolve as your situation changes and a lot of clubs go from survival mode to hoying silly cash at average players and coming unstuck.

Leicester are more likely to be relegated than ever win anything ever again.

Apparently Tony is off to Reading. All sorted before full time.

The Athletic are usually pretty close but that would be a bizarre appointment if Mrasch got the job. I'd say it would seal their fate tbh.

Southampton will stay up no bother. Players clearly downed tools.

He did a great job at RB Salzburg and New York Red Bulls as well as spending a lot of time at RB Leipzig which is where Ralph Hassenhuttl made his name. Southampton spent 4 years building a squad around the style the red bull teams are known for and structured their academy in the same way.

Marsch is the right style and fit for the club. Whether he has the required quality is a different matter, but it suggests they're looking for continuity rather than tearing everything down and starting again.

    I believe you're right.

They're currently doing a 'Derby County' imo.

    Think so.

And it just shows you how quickly it can change. Not long ago now, owned by Liebher, they were seen as the perfectly ran club. Producing player after outstanding player over a number of years, running on a budget, easily staying up and more.

And now scrambling around like we were back when they were flying. What the feck happened there?.

To be honest, Smug, why would they really want him? Sacked by Leeds for being poor after less than a year, 5 months in charge of RB Leipzig where he was pretty poor. He was moderately successful at RB Salzburg and New York Red Bulls, but let's face it, the Austrian league isn't that strong and Jolinton looked prolific there. He might be a decent coach working as a number 2, but he looks miles off being a head coach/manager. He's an underwhelming appointment to chase, I can only think it's because the owners are American or American funded.

I don't think he's the man for that job but he seemed to be the basket they put all their eggs in ...

... the heart seems to have gone out of the club.

Totally agree, Smug. It seems to have started when Leibherr sold majority control to a Chinese business man a few years back, but accelerated since these new owners took over. Everything that they'd built up previously seems to being dismantled. It could be a very long road back for them if things keep going this way.

    Southampton annoys me tbh.

They 'went bust' and many local businesses went unpaid when they effectively wiped off mountains of debt. They then proceeded to spend again and become an established PL club we were all expected to admire.

It stinks and I couldn't care less if they end up with other financial escapologists like Derby.
