No to Moyes and yes to Laudrup? Please, try and justify that one. Moyes had a sustained record of taking an underfunded club close to the Champions League. Laudrup won a trophy and had a pretty but ultimately soft centred side, with a lot of the good work done by Martinez and Sousa. He didn't last.
Sorry mate, I'll bow to your better knowledge, I mean I'm only a STH at Goodison like, so what would I know about Moyes tenure. I must have forgotten all of those relegation battles in the 7 seasons listed that we never came lower than 8th, and the desperate flirting with the bottom 3 in the 4 of those 7 that we managed to scrape ourselves away from the drop and somehow spawned our way into the top 6
I said before progressing - I would rather flirt with the mid table than the bottom But as Gil T Azell - we may not get Moyes -
I'm worried, too, Wandy 'cos we're already 6th bottom and Everton are 6th top Maybe we should change our name to eSunderland A.F.C. so that we start higher up the table . . . . psychologically, that is bound to help, isn't it
You're not taking in the facts people are giving you. 1 bottom half finish in his 11 years there, he won PFA manager of the year twice in his first three seasons at Everton you're splitting hairs over one poor season. Everton were in real danger of going down when he took over. That Everton job he did is one of the most successful long term managerial reigns in history of the PL when you take circumstances into consideration.
Not saying Laudrup would be a disaster mate, but ahead of Moyes makes no sense to me. Moyes record over 11 years was superb, Laudrup fell short a whole lot faster than that. Lovely football to watch like.
No matter how much of a **** day you are having, you can always take 5 mins out, login in here and think, ah it's not all doom and gloom after all..
Important thing is we are passionate supporters living in the real football world : abscence of (m)any real success
That's my thoughts up front. I feel Moyes would be very similar to Sam and we wouldn't have a massive readjustment.
Exactly, we need a smooth transition, not bring somebody who'll want to be installing a completely different mission statement across all levels at the club
He went in after 2 managers had done superb groundwork, carried the momentum and won a trophy. It then started to fall apart and the Swans fans were fairly happy he went. He didn't build anything solid.
So, half our transfer window gone and three weeks till the season starts and you want to install a manager who style of play would demand every tier of the club changing it's playing philosophy and a massive playing staff overhaul on a tiny budget to get the a team capable of playing the style he wants? Holy crap you can't be for real, this is a wind up. Laudrup joined swansea off the back of three managers setting up the philosophy he loves. There's no logic in your choice what so ever and I'd pimp my arse out if Laudrup became Sunderland manager.
