I do agree to an extend, but I feel his mind now outdoes his ability. He knows what he wants his car to do but he just can't seem to do it anymore, hether or not he can over come this I just do not know.
I agree with your first sentence here and almost all of your last; but I strongly disagree that he "still may be".

He was washed up several years ago and got out of the game a season too late the first time around! And when rumours and speculation about a possible return were first mooted - well before the announcement of going to Mercedes - I declared that he would be beaten by almost any team mate.
Rosberg turned out to be his team mate of course; a good, pretty quick, solid and reliable driver who is rather weak in a fight. Overall, probably a little above average ability for the current grid. Nonetheless, I saw no challenge from Captain Come-back. As soon as it was announced, I said he would easily dominate Schumacher, who will never again beat a team mate over a season.
Schumacher is dreaming if he really believes otherwise…
I hear ya, Cosi... and you're likely 100% correct. I just sometimes have this niggling feeling that the story isn't over yet. One Brawn masterpiece could be all it takes to see one last hurrah.
I do not doubt Brawn and his men's capacity to build a super car Bhaji! - Even a Championship winning one. But they need two decent drivers to achieve a Constructors' Championship and Schumacher will keep coming off second best until he is teamed with Karthikeyan.
If Mercedes produce a consistent winner, Schumacher will still be soundly beaten in my opinion. He is simply too slow.
Like I say... you're likely correct. I just don't think that (or maybe it's that I don't want.) the Schumacher story will end in a fizzling out.
Like him or not (and I've never been his biggest fan... he about killed me with his move on Damon.) he's a legend in F1. He's there with Fangio, Clark, Senna etc. We may never see the likes of him again in our lifetime. It would be a pitty for the story to end in mediocrity.

Dont usually comment on these articles as it can be dragged into a whos better at what argument, but heres my input
Hamilton : I think the most complete racer, who will go for everything and as often said he can work around a problem in a car and get used to it quick. When he is the right headspace, he can do mind boggling things with the speed he has, and is the best out there, but when he is not in it, he is an agressive and desperate driver. Overall the most complete driver on his day !
Vettel : Seb is up there, i dont doubt his open track speed, but he has never been tested in the heat of the moment in the midfield, and never had to make too many important calls.
Alonso : Alonso is up there with the top, and like Hamilton has great pace, but is more consistent and doesnt usually have bad races or rarely gets aggressive.
Button : Jensen is a beautifully smooth driver, who can give awesome feedback and have the most tinder senses ( a good and bad thing). When the car feels good, jenson will be up with the top drivers, but a bit of unbalance in the car and he will whinge like a child.

Useless bit of information.Irvine always said Schumacher was a useless test driver,because he was that good' he could drive around a problem,whereas Irvine couldn't.
Someone voted for Kubica as most complete driver, bit harsh.

Actually... what I heard is that Hamilton is such a frequent visitor the the stewards office, that they now penalize him if he doesn't stop by for a cuppa.
No Ginger Nuts = a five spot grid penalty.

I think Sutil is complete as he has nothing more to achieve which is in his scope..... He can retire happily now
