Not if you go to the right place. In Maine, I had some absolutely delicious lobster which was alive when I ordered! They had a tank of lobsters so when someone ordered one they caught one and cooked it.

I wouldn't be able to do that, I think it'd turn me vegetarian :(

I'd be okay with it if I could be assured it would be killed with a knife and not boiled alive.

Was going to add the proviso that regional food might be better....though I don't eat meat from an animal without a spine.

Apparently, the British don't like Scottish langoustines, so all the catch goes to Spain, and the Med. All I would ask is give me a chance to buy some at a reasonable price in the UK, similar to what they pay in Spain. I'll make them popular all on my own. :)

After some of the silly ****s I've encountered on the trip, such as the couple cussing out a waiter for not having chicken and chips, I'm coming to understand everyone's preconceptions about Britain and food.

I have always subscribed to the idea of... when in Rome...

Was in a charming Italian café having a nice slice of pizza, when a British couple asked for a sandwich. The waiter didn't speak good English, but finally brought them the nearest he could get made from Italian bread (shock, horror in Italy). They went off into a rant because it wasn't like an English sandwich. Didn't have the brains to understand that they might have done better to eat the Italian food on offer. I am not an adventurous eater myself, but usually find something I like and certainly never complain about only foreign food being available. Makes you wonder why*people travel.

First time to Crete, I went with a few fairly well travelled friends. One of them spent all the time he could trying to find a place where they cooked English roast dinners. I was also truly appalled at his behaviour to waiters, etc. Couldn't believe that's what he'd learned on his wanderings. Never again.

And the local food and wine was astonishingly good too.

Had fish and chips once in America and it wasn't nice. They do have loads of nice restaurants and fast food chains, you can see why loads of Americans are overweight.

It always baffles me when I've seen English families in Spain in English pubs, you can do that at home! And people in the UK moan about immigrants for not integrating!

Hamilton wins the British Grand Prix! Not a Lewis fan, but a British win at Silverstone is always special.

Yes, fair play to him, he deserved a bit of luck. Great drive from Bottas, and the Vettel/Alonso fight was fantastic.

I see Marquez has won 8 in a row now TSS.......

Yes, I know. Mind you, whoever wins, motorcycle racing is inherently more exciting than car racing, but don't let that stop you trying to hype up F1. I'm still not bothering to tune in though. F1 owes me too much boredom time back. :)

The people that moan about immigration are usually the ones who then emigrate to Benalmadena or somewhere, because there are too many foreigners over here.
