I only ever play as Southampton. I don't have the attention span for a lower league team, and I don't care enough with other league teams.

I forgot to mention my Tales of Joe's Workplace weekend special edition!

Turns out Mad Albanian has a boyfriend in America who she wasn't telling me about. She's mentioned several times that she's going to Florida in September but just called it a holiday. Seems a lot like she didn't want me to know. She told others about him though, so now I know.

We went out on Friday. Good thing nothing happened eh?

I missed some good football to go out that night!!!

Or what's her name. Minx girl, her.

I lost interest in her for a bit when she got rid of the red hair and went back to boring brown (possibly the Hayley obsession at play there) but she's been dressing a bit slutty recently so that's been nice.

I wonder what the IT department would think if they looked at some of the stuff you say? They'd probably help you hunt down Selina... or just tell her that you're trying to stalk her.

I've been working at this place about ten weeks and I've been writing this stuff as well as watching football and all sorts of other things for pretty much the entire time. I figure if they were watching what I'm doing I'd be out of the job by now. Or I'm entertaining them. Either's good.

If I was just an IT grunt I'd not give a **** what other people are doing. But yeah if it's working, no problems, you've found the perfect workplace. Any idea how long you're meant to be there for?

I was meant to be there for a week or two to help with the extra workload while they were moving to a new office. On my last day in the old office my manager asked if I'd be happy coming to help out for a bit in the new office. I've been in the new office a good while now. No idea what their plans are for me but I'm happy with the amount of slacking I can get away with and despite that they seem to want me there so I'm not asking any questions.

Perfect situation!

In other news, I saw who I believe to be one of my neighbours this evening, walking her cat on a leash <yikes>

Does it look like an exotic breed like a Savannah or something like that? If it's just a regular cat, I think it's your moral obligation to break into her house and free it.

With wanting to get a good look but not get caught, I had to keep my distance, but from what I saw it was definitely a regular cat! I may have to don a balaclava and do as you suggest then :bandit:

For a year I was in an IT support team, at a place called Htec, at Eastleigh Airport, servicing electronic tills in petrol stations [Asda in Chandlers Ford was an example]. The IT team that serviced our computers were your typical IT type. If our computers would get a glich we'd report it, then wait, then finally give up waiting and fix them. Then a guy from the IT team would eventually get to us and tell us off for fixing the computer because that was his job. That was typical.

So one day one of our computers went down and we reported it. Hours went by, and nothing. So we went outside the building and took photos through their windows. Then we knocked on their door and while I was chatting about the fault, my colleague took some snaps of their screens. We got them back to our department and uploaded them. Sure enough, the IT team were busy playing networked shoot 'em ups. We had them by the short and curlies, so we thought. Our boss sided with them and we were put in our place. I got out of that one as soon as I could after that. Terrible office politics, and the worst company I've ever had the bad experience to have a job with. I wonder if they've changed..?

Yeah, one of my friends has a ragdoll cat, it has no catlike instincts, unlike other cats, if it falls of stuff it lands anyway other than on its feet. If you let it out it would get lost and run over within minutes. It's quite cool though, way more affectionate than a normal cat.

Meh, if I was in IT I would expect it to be like The IT Crowd and be thoroughly disappointed if it wasn't.

I've probably only seen about 10 minutes or so of The IT Crowd, over its run, so I can't comment on how accurate their portrayal is, though the general impression that IT nerds are without personality is untrue. Some are 2D berks, I suppose, but some are thoroughly rounded out people, just like any other mix of the working population really. I have a good friend from the early 1980's who was indeed a computer nerd in the classic sense. Zero personality and head full of number crunching. Women would run a mile from his conversation. He ended up getting married, having a family, and now he lives in Cornwall and is a very nice bloke who I'm happy to call a friend. He just rounded out later than some.

EDIT: BTW, I fixed a computer this evening. Oh dear. :(

Has anyone seen Darren Aronofsky's debut film Pi? Absolute classic in my opinion. The main character is a brilliant yet socially awkward mathematician (not an IT nerd, although he definitely seems to know his stuff with computers).

Your line of number crunching reminded me of it TSS! Will have to give it a watch again soon, such an interesting film.

Never seen it, but I shall look out for it.

Please do, for the mere estimated $60,000 it took to make, it is a great film. Different, intense at times but extremely interesting in my opinion!
