Maybe we can discuss the 'Joke' (sic) thread in the morning; a bit confused about some moderators comments. The majority of the ****e posted has shown some for their worth, if they call that humour! Thanks for closing it, but the comment is puzzling.

Confusion caused by myself and Dutch posting at the same time with differing stances without seeing each other's posts. Should make sense with that in mind.

You've opened it, so condoned it. No religion, no politics, but crude and insulting racist jokes are just dandy??? But then, if they are not your cup of tea you can always start your day, as can our younger members (remember them when they supported the boycott?) with the worst form of baby rape 'jokes to hand. Start scrabbling in that drawer damn quick and find the moral compass that will save the integrity of this board and your reputation; some have already lost theirs - anonymously or not.

I didn't close or re-open the thread. DMD originally closed it, then re-opened it when he saw I'd commented because he hadn't read it in full and decided to leave it to me.

<= kicks fez off his soap box

I think the title was sufficient to let ppl know that the content was going to scrape the bottom of the barrel as far as jokes are concerned.
And yet you STILL opened it you bunch of fannies!
there is no other word for those that complain after seeing a warning ****ING FANNIES

    You're mature! Idiot...

Just because it has a title, doesn't make it acceptable. Some of the jokes (not all of) clearly step over the line. The only hilarious thing is some people trying to defend them.

kicks fez off his soap box
    - no need,, I''ll step down to your level to sort it any way you like.

There's a place for everything and this is a football board that does not allow politics or religion as subject matter, so racism and kiddy-fiddling should be well off the radar of decent tolerance - unless, of course, you subscribe to support one or both deviant cults; because if not, why go anywhere near them?

Everyone in society has a role as a moderator, of sorts; most only have the editorial tool of reading, being shocked and then raising their concerns. No one can understand how bad things are without looking, your argument is shallow, foolish and sadly self-serving.

I use it quite a lot and I cannot defend myself. But the swear filter aids its use and to be honest, I spend all day having to control what I say and the manner in which I say things, and holding back what I actually think of people. I would however call some posters that name to their face, if they where stood in front of me saying what they say. But that is no justification really.
If it upsets you I will try to curb my use of it.

I still haven't bothered reading it all, there's no point. Î've closed it now as it just seemed to be people being abusive about people they thought were being abusive. It's ironic some are abusing my handling of it, even though I wasn't even on line.

For what it's worth, I would have let it run if that's what posters seemed to want (it's not for me to dictate) but if there were serious, justifiable complaints I would have closed it.

Can I ask once again, if people have an issue with a post they PM a mod? As you can see on the joke thread, the battle for the moral highground just leaves a board full of casualties and bad feelings.

The most ludicrous thing of all about that thread is that many of those bleating loudest about 'standards' are the foul-mouthed, sexist keyboard warriors who revel in their 'outspokenness' about the monarchy, dead politicians and so on.

Presumably the feelings of 14 year old kids and the like are not uppermost in their thoughts when they post their bucket mouth froth?

The astonishing sight of some of these hypocrites attempting to bestride some kind of moral high horse is genuinely hilarious.

Yet again, you slate those who have a different view. Have you ever posted anything worth actual debate? No wonder I swear after reading your posts.

I think you're a **** Agron but I couldn't agree more with this. Said as much in a thread I just started.

It seems for those people it's ok as long as it suits them.

I'm fed up of all this anyway.

And you need to stop posting bullshit just to et a rise out of those left wings.

I slate those who are hypocrites and showboaters, who get selectively indignant when it suits them and their pet causes.

Have I ever posted anything of worth? Gosh, good question. I'll leave the answer to others

If you disagree with my or anyone else's posts, ignore them or argue why their viewpoint is wrong.

I just looked, for the first time, at the 'joke' thread that has caused such a reaction, and now I realise why. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a soppy liberal, I like a good laugh as much as anyone else, and quite frankly I know that I have a ****ing wicked sense of humour, but some of the posts on that thread make me feel ashamed that my club is associated with this board, I've not read it all, I didn't have to!

I'm sorry Dutch, I'm simply addressing you as you were one of the mods that I saw had posted on there, I have a lot of time for you but on this occasion I think you got it badly wrong, we all make mistakes but that thread should, IMHO, have been locked then deleted! I realise that on CI we have had many threads over the years that happy clappers have slated as being too close to the bone, as it were, but some of the posts on that thread are outrageous, I'm not going to pinpoint which ones, there should be no need, and PLT, as for this comment that you posted in there 'And if their parents are letting them view threads with the title "Most shocking jokes" who is to blame?' all I have to say is that you should maybe ask yourself the question 'is moderation on a FOOTBALL board suited to my skill set?'

I agree it is self serving, but every sense of humour is personal, YOU cant tell me what is funny, same as you cant tell me what is offensive
