Just when the sun has been shining....

His interviews are excruciating and he is pretty average as a manager.

Doesn't he like to spend big and buy tosh.

Realistically the dinner lady is probably the best option out there, but I really can't stand the ****.

just cos he is a 'big name'..... doesnt mean that he is a good manager.
Ive just looked on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Bruce#Style_of_play and his win % as manager is a respectable 36%.

hmm not bad.

In general, big names become big names because they're successful.

I don't listen to stats like that - it varies too much over divisions and squad quality.
Ie 60% is enough to win the Championship, but it could be with a team like Newcastle, or it could be Bristol City
and 22% could be enough to keep a team in the Premier League, but again, it could be with Newcastle, or it could be, say.. Derby when they had that awful season not so long ago.

It doesn't matter what his win rate is, we haven't even spoken to him, it's another Burnsy 'my sources tell me' whopper.
Mike White said he had spoken to him and the club have approached his representatives, SB not getting drawn in tho.
Guess sauces are rare these days as the club seem to have worked out where the leaks are from.

As I said on the other thread, Bruce hasnt made a comment on this when asked by Chalky. Surely if he wasnt even a bit interested he'd have flat stated it.

I'd like him and for those against, seriously, this time last week we thought we had Kevin Blackwell.....

I heard the lunchtime news and they said nothing about approaching his representatives.

Who would be better for us than Bruce? Serious question.

No, Barmby isn't a serious response nor is Capello, Mourhino etc etc.

I mean from the list of names we've all be pouring over recently. Who is better, bigger reputation wise and a better catch for us than Bruce?

Apart from the second line (Barmby would have been the best option to stick with) I think this is a good point.

The names that have been mentioned are all pretty dire, there are the odd couple (McCarthy and Davies) who would be good but are tossers and probably wouldn't come anyway, then there are a load who don't sound very good at all and Bruce whilst I don't like him is probably the best of a bad bunch.

Realistically the dinner lady is probably the best option out there, but I really can't stand the ****.

In fact this post puts it even better, thirded.

At the end of the day Steve Bruce would be a good appointment so let's hope it is him

Apart from Mad Mick, sadly Steve Bruce is the best option for Nick Barmby. Not my choice at all but a better option than many that have been mentioned. A few pluses for Bruce getting the job though.

1-3, 2-7, 1-4 - they are pretty telling odds. I dont recall any as short as that for a new manager being wrong before....
