Unless I’m mistaken, the first post on the original Migrant Crisis thread was on 23/11/2021 (Page 87 #1729 on the current ‘News and Current affairs’ thread).

Is there a simple way to restore the thread from that point as there’s about 18 months worth of posts missing at the moment ?

Fact is, the migrant crisis is this country's most pressing issue. We are literally being swamped by third world folk whom we know absolutely nothing about.

What are their intentions? Will they assimilate? Will they commit crimes? Sadly and frighteningly, a great many have bad intentions, have no plans to assimilate and will join crime gangs or go rogue.

Our government and police are pathetic in the face of this crisis and it is now clear that we are on our own.

Sad times.

There is not a simple way of restoring this thread that I am aware of.
The 'merge threads' function is easy to use.
I cannot find an 'un-merge threads' function, so I am having to move the posts back here manually.
This may take several hours. So as I asked before, please be patient with me.

Thank you for identifying the first post. I will work through them from there.

Doesn't seem necessary to put yourself through all that. As Elfs says, you do more than enough for us. This is a Charrlton football forum.

It was my mistake.
Nearly done now. Only a couple of months to go through (March 2023 to May 2023) and all posts will be restored, back to 23/11/2021.

EDIT:

All done now I think.
Sorry if I have missed any individual posts.
I can still move them to here if they are pointed out to me.

Sorry Lardi. I presumed it would just be a case of reversing something, but obviously not.

You’re the best <cheers>

And still they come…..

534 criminals arrived by small boat across the channel yesterday.

6,265 criminals so far this year (up 28% on last year), and we haven’t even had ‘good’ weather yet. The invasion goes on unabated and our society slips further into the cesspit.

We desperately need meaningful change at the next election.

Whether we agree or disagree about ‘global warming’ and the resultant threat to our society, it is not the most urgent threat to civil order in this country.

The import of tens of thousands of foreign criminals each year most certainly is.

Forget about the effects of global warming in 50 or 100 years. Our country as we know it will be gone long before then.

Criminals.
Convicted without a trial, without representation or a chance to speak.
That's the way we do Justice in Britain today.

Rishi Sunak's potty plan to stop the boats has failed.
He took credit for the 30% drop in numbers last year, when it turns out that was entirely down to weather conditions.
Now crossings are up 28% again on this time last year.

Yet these desperate people still account for less than 10% of net migration.
After 14 years of Conservative Government.
Dehumanising these people isn't going to stop them coming.
Quasi-Nazi policies like deporting a few hundred of them to Rwanda isn't going to stop more of them coming either.
You know it. I know it.
Rishi Sunak knows it.

All he is interested in is skimming a few more votes from
A) people who have grown weary of this issue but for some reason don't blame him or his incompetent chums for it, yet yearn for a 'simple' fix.
And
B) Folk who might otherwise vote for Reform UK, the Reclaim Party or even more extreme organisations.
As I've said before. Sunak's immigration gimmicks are not about boats, they are about votes.
So is all that verbal crap about pulling out of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Even crackpots like Liz Truss know the Conservatives are heading for a caning at the ballot box soon.

Net migration is a massive and complex issue that cannot be addressed by a handful of gimmicks and divisive speeches.
It needs grown-ups to sit down and take a serious in-depth look at all the issues.
I doubt it, but just maybe we'll get that from a new Government.

It is a fact - they are criminals.

They are entering our country illegally. Fact.

Ponders beat me to it. Everyone on those boats has entered the country illegally. That is a criminal offence. No ifs no buts, there is no legal defence. Just because the numbers are so high that we can’t detain those criminals and/or send them back doesn’t mean they aren’t criminals. It just means that we are being invaded.

The point about these arrivals being a low percentage of the overall immigration is correct but mute. They are far more likely to be a disruptive, and dangerous drain on our society than those who attempt to migrate here through legal routes, supplying their correct identities and presenting their cases in the process. Surely you can see the difference ?

And this isn’t about politics, Rishi Sunak, Suella Braverman or Sir Keir Starmer - this is about our country and what is happening to it. I really don’t understand why this has to be turned into another rant against the Tories. I agree they’ve failed utterly, but which other party will deal with this issue better or has a published plan to do so ?

And please, ‘desperate people’ ? Have you seen the pictures. 90% single, fit healthy young men dressed in the latest trainers and sportswear, taking selfies on their smart phones laughing and smiling as the RNLI escort them in. Jesus. Wake up Britain.

Well the whole discussion is pointless, as nothing anyone says will stop them coming.

Personally I don't have a huge issue with it.
It's far less important to me than several other problems we face in the UK.
Anyone who really can't tolerate it - perhaps you might take matters into your own hands and then face the consequences.
Or leave the Country.
Canada is quite a nice place to live so I hear.

You could say that about virtually every topic on here and other forums and then where would we be :emoticon-0138-think

Anyway talking of emigrating to Canada, we seriously considered doing this about 25 years ago. The biggest draw was that for the same cost as our house over here we could have bought a huge 4 or 5 bedroom house with three or four hundred acres of woodland over there.

Might still live to regret not doing it one day.

Not saying illegal migration isn't a problem.
I just don't think it's as big a problem as you do.

I find the degrading way migrants are referred to and the obvious contempt for them expressed in this thread upsetting, but that can't be helped I suppose. Radically differing opinions will cause discomfort sometimes.
And I don't have the option to not read the content here, as that would be shirking my responsibility.

However, it would not be right to prevent debate on this subject, and I have accepted that not long ago I was guilty of 'latent censorship' as I think you called it. In future it might be best for me not to post anything more on this subject, but I don't know if I can do that.
Hey ho. I'll try not to be too confrontational from now on.

Please don’t stop posting on this thread on my account. And be as confrontational as you want, I will argue my case but will never hope to stop anyone else doing likewise.

I can’t understand why people don’t think this is a big issue - it affects virtually every other issue in this country. So any issue that people do care about is almost certainly made worse by too much (particularly illegal) immigration.

Lack of housing
Overcrowded schools
Overstretched Hospitals
Overstretched Police
Overcrowded Prisons
Traffic journey times
Rough sleeping
Crime
Mental Health Services
GP waiting times

The list is virtually endless. And everything is made worse by importing tens of thousands of adults who have never paid a penny into the coffers which pay for all these services.

Obviously it's a big issue, but I don'tsee any solution, and expect it to get worse. Those who claim to have a solution are whistling in the dark.

If we stopped assisting the French Navy from trafficking illegal migrants across the channel it might help.

I was walking my four legged friend yesterday, and a member of staff from a local bar I use cycled past and bellowed at me "Oi gringo", <yikes>

Yes, but other than that what is the problem?:emoticon-0103-cool:
