Alan had his faults aye, but I think it's becoming a little too popular to chat **** about him recently.
He loved the club. Anyone who stays at a club as long as he did is going to make enemies, and is going to have controversial moments with managers. The reality is, the only reason he would have ousted Robson was to ensure he continued playing for Newcastle.
It was his desire to play as much as possible for the football club, I'm sure many times in his career he felt the urge to pack up and leave us, but he didnt.
Michael Owen would have rather bite off his own nob than play football. I won't get mad at Shearer for doing every thing in his power to play as much as possible.

No Groot isn’t lying. He’s stating a fact. The fans can shout but they don’t have the power to sack. Only the man in charge does.
Do you think if the fans shouted unanimously every game for Messi to be signed that Messi would be signed? If not how do fans have the power to sack but not sign? Some, not all or even the majority may have wanted Sir B out but that didn’t mean Shepherd had to sack.

I take it you never bothered reading Sir Bobby's book? I take it you didn't listen when Shepherd told all and sundry exactly why he sacked him? That's the horse mouth because he did the sacking. You are simply lumping yourself in with the mackems to continue this diatribe mate. Do you really want to be considered a mackem?
Robson stated two senior players had held a meeting with him and told him they thought he'd lost the team (not lost the plot or control as some reported). There had also been a picture with Robson and an NUFC player behind him sticking two fingers up at him, unbeknown to Robson. Shepherd had to buy the picture and negative off a reporter for 10k. Robson had senior players coming to see him concerned after he appeared to criticise the fans. The section of fans who had a go at that one game. They were still in a minority but I think it is wrong to suggest it was a tiny minority. There were a good few thousand having a pop. That will have played a very small part too even if Shepherd says he thinks he shot bambi because the fans still loved him. The other key factor in Shepherds eyes is we were in decline. The disappointment in Marseille, the league performance was worse than previous 2 seasons, and of course a poor start without a win in 4 games. Of course he was slightly deluded with his assessment but that's neither he nor there.

we finished 5th and the fans started beeling !!!!! we lost a couple of games and he got sacked

Not really, lots of books are garbage. However if the man himself Robson didn't feel he was sacked because of a lack of support and the chairman who sacked him say it isn't the case, I think most people with a brain that works would accept that notion is utter rubbish. If the question is asked of a chairman "why did you sack the manager" and he proceeds to tell them, I think its pretty much a given that was the reason unless there is something he can't say legally or he has something to hide. The fans being unhappy wouldn't fall into those categories. There just isn't any two ways about it, Shepherd didn't think he was up to the job. Now I think he was wrong, but I suppose he would argue "well where was he a success afterwards? He couldn't even get a job" or "I knew it was going tits up, I couldn't wait". Personally I felt if you look at Robson's time here we didn't really hit the ground running most seasons but I do accept in the years that followed he deteriorated quickly.
It is also worth noting that when people eulogise about Shepherds time here, how we were competitive etc, they forget he started the decline which Ashley continued. Robson was scathing of him and Halls efforts and their focus on the first team. He felt they ignored the training ground, youth development and talent scouts...sounds awfully familiar that.
What did you say about Owen? There is some truth in what he says but there is a lot of rubbish in there too. That's normal practice for footballers and/or famous people. Its natural to develop an ego, and we all know Owens is huge. He's hardly going to lay it all out saying "yeah I didn't really try towards the end and I'm a massive ****".
