Yep. The owners may well have an explanation, there may be add-one, it may be a higher fee. All good if so. We are seeing people say £5million is ok and it ****ing isn’t. £5million is a bog standard Championship right back nowadays. If indeed the owners have short sold him, I won’t be turning on them far from it, I’ll just expect and explanation in full and for them to learn fast as it would be a huge error at that level.
Got a strong feeling 5m is likely not representative of what we're actually pulling in. Don't see them selling on the cheap to a rival.
If his bids don't even factor inflation he's collected we should have the balls to hold on to him a bit longer. put him out on loan if he wants to play a higher level. No I won't turn on them but the comments. "Put simply, we are more likely to take the right decisions, if our fellow fans have been involved in actually making the decision.” Tells me we as fans need to buck up our ideas and stop constantly throwing negatives into the fire. Cause they're clearly listening to us and we're being way too soft. We're acting like a fan base of Rodney Trotters when we need to be more Del Boy and not be afraid to promote the blag to get more for for our players, not coming up with excuses why we should get less.
SD has made a decision to accept the offer. He doesn't come off as an idiot, so I presume that he has his reasons for accepting it, whatever they may be. I personally think £5m plus add ons and a sell on clause is acceptable. Not great, but okay. "5m is joke. Oh well, back to the shame and feeling embarrassed by our club." That's what I was referring to when I said negativity and getting on the owners back. One decision that you don't agree with and now you're embarrassed by the club. That's what I don't understand.
I just hope this is not the way it looks at the moment. I'm in the camp for holding out for 10 million. We have multiple bidders and it's still early in the window, F*ck McNair....we have his contract so he does what we want and just because he wants to play at a higher level that's his problem not ours. Actions speak louder than words...so far from the new regime we have had a lot of talk.....twitter etc. Biggest problem from the past as it has been mentioned not making profits on players in the transfer market. Mr Donald show us your intent and get us a great deal for McNair.....5 million ffs....your joking right? Hopefully a lot of this is newspaper bollocks but if it's true then the alarm bells are ringing for me.
At the end of the day rather than income from individual sales I'm more interested in the competitiveness of the squad at the end of the window when all of our sales and buys have been done.
Here mate. I'm not a nobhead hounding the owner on Twitter. I'll say what I like on here. On Twitter where opinion actually gets across, I'm very carefull with my words. Shame it can't be said for some of our fanbase on there
The negativity is there mostly because of our transfer dealings over the past 10 years, and a rush of optimism that our new owners were going to be different. This is a huge and unnecessary gamble for them to take imo. if all that has been said is true, its giving out all the wrong messages to everyone watching, fans players and competitors alike.
Saw this on Twitter and thought it was worth posting here.... James Maddison age 21 3 × u21 caps £22 MILL plus add ons Jack Grealish age 22 7 x u21 caps Evidently £15 MILL bid in but #avfc want 40 mill Paddy McNair age 23 20 × full international caps £5mill plus add ons This how stupid market is 15-20 MILL should be mcnair price #safc
We like to bend over and get shafted though. The piss taking stops here though, so i suppose that makes it ok.
I can see the logic but I can't see McNair being worth 15 mil. It sounds like we've played hardball rejecting multiple offers and if 5 mil with add ons is the best we're going to get then so be it. You can't force other clubs to offer 20 mil for McNair just because Grealish is rated at 40 mil by Villa.
The main concern for me is that to sell for £5m either he's told them he isn't going to be playing League One next season or they financially need the money or they believe McNair has a value of just £5m. None of those three options are good news/ good judgement. Oh well, it's one bad turn in a generally good set of events in recent weeks, it does not define the summer.
