Erm no, you made the statement about the teacher and the student in a different post and anyway, how many 18 year old teachers are out there?

Floundering a bit are we? :emoticon-0111-blush

Not necessarily. There's ways of dealing with it. At least they have a chance to get on with their lives, what chance do they get when they're murdered?

Not really, you get teaching assistants and classroom assistants that are 18.

Getting drunk was deliberate, driving whilst drunk was deliberate.

Why are you banging on about the laws of this country when the crime happened in Belgium and the Perp. came from DRC? We don't know about the victim.

I made an error. I guess that's it. I'll now be Tommyerrortiger from now on. Forever and all eternity because I made one mistake. God I hope my descendants can live this down.

Inadequacies about what? The bollocks you were spouting before about writing people off? Or the fact that you didn't really understand the original point of the argument and resorted to (hilariously inaccurate) insults about me being a liberal?

I take the point about the sentence length, but was working on what I had read, in that he served 3yrs. I do note what was said about the step-daughter rape as a comparison and I agree with someone that it seems cock-eyed – rape from a position of trust getting so little seems odd – is there a racist undertone, who knows? Whatever the case we still do not understand the detail or if any peer coercion was involved – which if you were to believe much of the article posted by OLM would be highly probable, in that environment, on a young kid – a juvenile.

I have not seen anyone trying to justify his crime, only some supporting his structured rehabilitation, some trying to understand the difficulties of being brought up in a war-torn environment in African, only to be transported to a gang ghetto in Brussels and others at the other end of the scale, who are perfect and will brook no leeway whatsoever.

The whole ‘if it were your daughter’ argument has no legs; that’s why we have a justice system, so intelligence, not emotion, can rule the roost! Whether or not you watch him play is a choice thing, each to his or her own.

The comparisons are piss-poor; Venables and this guy were juveniles and have done their time and undergone (still are) rehabilitation under structured process. Should they not come up to scratch then their license would be withdrawn and they would be banged-up again. The others are cold, calculated adult killers and a rapist, who are incarcerated and will be for a very long time – the only way they will play in front of us would be if our fortunes change dramatically and they sell their stories for £20K and play for Macclesfield . . .
. . . just as daft an idea as the comparisons made.

I would agree that his signing would be an unlikely move by our club, as his past is distasteful and by many unforgiveable – but there are plenty out there that do forgive; it’s the forgetting that’s hard. To get back to the original point, I would still be prepared to see him signed if his rehabilitation has been good so far.
