I didn't watch the game. I waited until I seen the line up and noticed JVS in goal and no Oztumer. I thought to myself, I couldn't justify paying £10 to watch a heavy defeat. I listened instead and at half time, I was mad with myself for not watching the game because we sounded very good. We got fortunate a few times where Plymouth didn't punish us with some very good chances in the first half, which they fluffed and some more chances where our keeper actually did something right. Those saves have given him some much needed confidence and the fact that our keeper got MOTM suggests Plymouth had their fair share of chances. I think the difference between the 2 sides on Saturday was we took our chances and Plymouth didn't. I don't think it was a 3-0 game to be fair. But I will take it though! Westbrooke has now started the last 3 games. We have won them all and he scored 9 in the process - averaging 3 per game. We are creating a lot of chances now and finding the net. Looks like we have sorted our attack out and Ayunga is back. We just need to sort our defence out. Strange saying that after keeping a clean sheet but we could have easily conceded 3 or 4 on Saturday. We look very shaky at the back, especially when the opposition is pushing and putting us under pressure. If we can be more solid, composed and confident at the back, we would go on a very good run.
I thought that a couple of their chances came down to our lack of pace at the back, Westbrooke and McCormick ran the midfield and Oztumer wasn't really missed. Cam Hargreaves came on and had energy and looked like a player with a point to prove. the first 2 goals were a result of corners but the last one was a good team goal. Oztumer not available for the Charlton game as Charlton are his parent club and if the mid field performance continues on from Saturday he might well find it difficult to get his place back
The positives..... The bench looks good. Rodman is back. Little, Barrett and Ayunga too! The negatives.... No Jaakkola, no Grant, no Oztumer and no Westbrooke. Key players to our recent success. Tisdale just confirmed Westbrooke and Oztumer were 2 of the players who had coronavirus and are ok but left out for today. Grant and Jaakkola are injured. Players returned to training on Wednesday after 10 days off. 2 days training as had yesterday off for xmas. During the 10 days off, players had to self isolate so wasn't allowed out to keep fitness up. They had an hour a day over zoom to do some fitness stuff together and that is it for those 10 days. Some players have gardens so was able to do other fitness stuff but a lot of players don't have gardens. So a lack of fitness will be an issue. A very good chance with picking up injuries. Key creative players missing. Best keeper in the league missing. Only 2 days training and preparation for this game. I can only see a defeat. This is a game we really do need to win as we are on the same points and we are 2 points off the relegation zone. But due to circumstances of the last 2 weeks, we are in deep trouble again. Unless the boys can surprise us today.
Good to see Cam Hargreaves getting a start always provides good energy to the team, we might be glad of the 5 subs rule today Little and Rodman back is a major bonus jury still out on Barrett and Ayunga
Is anything happening after 8 mins on I Follow live text there hasn't been a single entry According to the Rovers twitter Where they are playing today is in a tier 4 area so there is no away commentary so why are Rovers having to travel to tier 4 area to play when the locals cant leave or enter that area 1 - 0 down 2 - 0 down We have 4 players coming back from injury me might as well get the 4 on and give them match practice
Well this has been the worst festive season of football in living memory for Gasheads. Only one match and that was a dismal defeat against relegation rivals. To compound matters a friend of mine got us tickets to see Forest Green Rovers v Crawley today last week - we were so looking forward to watching live football even though it wasn’t the Gas - but that too has gone to pot with Glos now in Tier 3. I sincerely hope that 2021 is better for Gasheads and all football fans because 2020 has been a pile of ****!
I knew we were going to lose. I didn't bother wasting £10 to watch on ifollow. I listened instead on Radio Bristol.
Yes, ruddy good job I didn’t go as our former alleged striker Nichols scored a brace and FGR lost! Still, would’ve been nice to have seen some live football after so long without.
1 - 0 down 8 mins The number of misplaced passes is horrendous 1 - 1 2 - 1Rovers 2 simple chances missed
I was very surprised when I seen the result. I didn't watch or listen as I was tied up with other things. But 3 points is 3 points and we are undefeated in 2021 The goal from Hanlan was very well taken with a 1st time shot and Nicholsons goal just reminded me of Billy Bodin. Imagine Nicholson one side of Hanlan and Bodin on the other side!
Up next is Sheff Utd who haven't won a single game - league or cup. We usually break these records so im expecting United to get their first win! But we should be feeling confident of a cup upset if we play the right players. Since Tisdale joined, every time he has left Westbrooke out of the starting 11, we haven't won. Every time he starts, we win!
To wet our appetite for this weekends game vs Sheff Utd, here is our FA Cup game 19 years ago today. Derby 1 Rovers 3
