If he keeps this up through out the season, then he will be itching for another step up. It will be interesting to see what happens when he get 2 or 3 poor result.
Merson rightly is getting slated on social media again, but Phil Thompson was as bad, but doesn't seem to get the flack Merson gets.
Everyone is getting humped by Man City it seems. I was meaning against teams that are out of the top 4. I just remember the capitulation we had after the Sunderland game, but maybe everyone just gave up after that.
I get your point on this one,but in general, Merson regularly comes out with similar quality crap. I got the feeling Thompson was egging him on too.
He didn't fail with us, it was a miracle we took it as close as we did. This is showing what the man can do with a proper pre-season and owners who are prepared to back him.
Very true, Merson has a habit of making himself look a twat, he certainly doesn't need any egging on, he's a natural at it.
Sad really we couldn't keep hold of him but he was always here to try to enhance is profile for bigger clubs .. last few games aside he did that. He has been properly backed by the Watford board and that's what happens when the club back the vision of the manager. I have to say he appears more tactically switched on then a lot of managers these days
My thoughts exactly, its far too early to get carried away yet, everything is going for them at the moment, we'll see how good he really is when the results dry up and they're under a bit more pressure. With us he picked up results early when we looked like a lost cause and the pressure was off, when it came down to the crunch games (Palace/Sunderland) we were pathetic. The early signs are encouraging and there's a good manager in there for sure but he's still got a bit left to prove.
I might be a bit behind here but I notice Watford were criticised for having Cleverley attempting to mark Mertesacker at a corner. I really like Silva but it's really weird how he doesn't seem to mind conceding from set pieces at all.
Cleverley wasn't marking Mertesacker, he was doing what we tried to do last year. The smaller men attempt to disrupt/block the bigger opposition and the big guys defend their space.
