I fully agree with you. As mainly a reader of these forums I get sick of seeing Tickler spam every thread with waffle. It's intrusive and highly annoying. Approx 1 in 10 of his posts are OK. The other 90% are pure crap. And as soon as anyone dares to have a go at him he starts insulting them, totally oblivious to the fact that virtually everyone else thinks the same.

I can see your point. I think the way he strikes the ball is very good, the problem is he catches it beautifully but still puts it wide. I'm not sure what you can do about that. Fryatt has scored a lot of goals this season from scuffed shots, McLean catches the ball nicely most times but if it misses it's no better than a Fryatt scuff. I do think he's been unlucky but if we can get a fee for him and bring in someone better I'd be happy with that.

He's a striker... what else is he? he can't cross the ball or defend that well. I think he's been unlucky this season, has missed a heck of a lot of chances... I just think they could just as well have been converted. As long as he gets in scoring opportunities like he does regularly then he'll come good. But if a fee comes then I will take it.

I'm not saying you're wrong but when has he missed a lot of chances? I get told off for saying Fryatt misses a lot and I have specific examples of games which I often mention, but it's often said that McLean has missed a lot but I really can't remember him missing a lot and when he does it's generally a flash across goal that he doesn't quite react to quick enough. I'd suggest he's had more near misses (where he's done well to almost score, he seems to have hit the bar more than anyone this season) than easy chances missed.

I can't say specifically but he's had quite a few shots on goal for us, including crossbar hits... I know they may not always be clear cut goals but he gets a lot of blocked shots or wide misses and I just feel as though if he could get his shooting boots on then we could see a different player as he knows how to power himself into th ebox.

I'd say the main thing stopping him from scoring this season has been a lack of game time. He's had a couple of injuries, he's spent a lot of time on the bench and he's played on the wing quite a bit too. He's hardly ever been the main striker and when he has he's done alright. I think he has more goals in him than we've seen so far, but if we can get rid and get someone better then I'd thank him for his efforts and say goodbye!
