How embarrassing was that interview of Vinokourov. The blokes just won olympic gold and she's talking about Cav and the GB team. What the **** does he care.

I agree - it was crass to say the least. Though as he is someone who has served a 2 year doping ban, maybe it wasn't the most embarrassing thing she could have said to him......

Not sure if it has been mentioned but I am just so angry with Giggs and all the other non english footballers male and female who snubbed the National Anthem. Must be the only sport in the Olympics were they feel the need to do that. They have chosen to be part of a GB team so go with it and be proud for once. If Giggs stands there stony faced again at the next match I think I will want to throw something at the TV. He was quite willing to accept is OBE from the Queen. They really are an insult to all the athletes and other competitors in Team GB.

Beijing was just a spectacle, at least this one did have some meaning to it, but the NHS part didn't do a lot for me, I thought that was more a political left wing statement, as Danny Boyle is that way inclined I understand.
 
I thought the opening ceremony would be lost on visitors, some of the music though was decent. Sets were well thought out - but not sure it was worth the reported £27m
 
I noticed in the Team GB Women's football, there was a player called Karen Cairney. Is this possibly a relation to our Tom?

It might well happen at every olympics but that makes it even more annoying. The French language manages to sneak into everyone's bloody business and it just needs to **** off. I didn't hear anything announced in Greek. If it wasn't for the bloody French shoving their nancy language down everyone's throats we'd all just speak English by now.

I've popped in here especially to find out how and why Team GB can publicly moan that other teams that couldnt win would work against GB ...
How does influences of rival teams affects your own tactics in road cycling ?? I donderstand how team GB couldn't pace the team to keep up with the Ukraine challenge , and if /when they fail its down to the winner being quicker and not about the also rans not helping out .

Its not like Cav finished 2nd is it ?!?!

I couldn't understand the obsession with Cavendish anyway would have been nice to see the guy who came second in the Tour have a shot at a medal.

I think it was done out of sympathy because he was the only one out of the cycling squad not to get a medal (of any colour) at the Beijing Olympics. Still sympahty shouldn't come into sport.
