In fairness, it was the droning vapid poorly constructed sentences of ill judged waffle that offended me more than the politics. Ruined my early morning ablutions, it did.

That is how people can 'politicise' a tragedy like this: seeing it as an opportunity not to support the victims, but to cynically latch on to protests, pretending to empathise, but in reality only concerned with their political enemies.
There was a very interesting piece by Angus Young in paper last night about Greg Knight, one of 71 Tory MPs who also happen to be private landlords who voted against an amendment to the current Housing and Planning Bill. This amendment would have forced landlords to make sure their properties are 'fit for human habitation". Greg Knight (MP for E Yorks) has an income of of more than £10,000 a year derived from property.

And as Billy Connolly says "**** off doesn't mean go away, it means **** OFF.

These people will always respond in an emergency, regardless of their personal risk, as so many of them did. Many are still there, securing the building.

They do an amazing job and deserve the thanks and praise of everyone involved in this tragedy, whether in reality or vicariously

Fire Service, Ambulance/Emergency Evacuation Service, Police, Voluntary Services, Salvation Army,WVS, churches, community groups, volunteers from all walks of life..............

I think someone is going to get strung for this....!!!!!... fire resistant cladding for the whole building would have cost £5000 more...

I do have a question more of an eyebrow raised question really... if the refurbishment cost £8.6 million and the panel supply and installation cost £3.7 million, where was the other £5 million spent?..

A lot of emotional responses to this tragedy on this thread, I've read them all, this social media thing is becoming a monster, and although like most people I use the internet to my advantage I find it hard to understand the mentality of some people and what they deem acceptable to post. But on the subject of an inquiry I would surmise that anyone in authority who could be conceivably linked to the so called improvements to this tower block, be it lowly council officers or offcials in Westminster, will be scrambling to cover their tracks and their backs to absolve themselves of any culpability in this whole sorry affair. The higher the decision making goes the more deeper those tracks will now be getting covered, 'nothing to do with me guv' comes to mind, all the fine words coming from Parliament at the moment will mean nothing if one of their own has made one hell of a mess in association with this tower block 'refurbishment'. I congratulate Howden Tigress on her post, a little sanity there, but as always actions speak louder than words, maybe we will see how serious some of these comments from ministers have been acted upon, I won't hold my breath.

Interesting question of whether a public inquiry is the right thing or whether it should be an inquest

Inquiry is goverment led and reporting, apparently from different source, direct to the PM. Families won't have the right to ask questions
Inquest is independently led through coroners and at coroners inquests the families, or their legal team, can always ask questions of anyone giving evidence

An inquest leading on to an inquiry will be considered.

The key will be determining the remit and terms of reference to ensure that the inquiry does not preclude the culpability of those who could be held to account as being ultimately responsible.

They are. However those dogs are not the dogs working in Grenfell Tower
Those are actually dogs from Humberside Fire used to detect petrol etc in arson investigations
Someone used their photo by accident and it's done the rounds ever since despite their handlers, who I know, confirming that they hadn't been to Grenfell
