Who's handling all this money though... Is the £5 million paid to hotel chains / B&B's to house those affected as there is no housing stock...?.. all the charitable donations..

It's more for food and clothes.

The Council have already announced that they will rehouse everyone affected in the local area.

Migrants go to London because work is plentiful.
London is also very multicultural City so people feel more comfortable and welcome.

After their families, friends and community have burnt to death in what is likely to be proven as wholly preventable circumstances, I think it’s understandable that they might get a bit arsey.

For this reason, calling them ‘vigilantes’ is shocking, but in-line with the other offensive tabloid ****e you come out with.

I like the way you mention a ‘learned man’ as if that adds some sort of currency to your stupid rhetorical question.

I've noticed a recent trend in media reporting of these multiple death events such as this one, Manchester, Borough Market. The actual news element is more or less mined out after 48 hours but then there are several days of live on the spot reports, the emotional reactions and recycling of previous days' events.

    The News Will Eat Itself.
It's not the way it was done when I was a lad, and it seems hard to comprehend (to me) why the focus goes onto the 'human feelings' side of the news for so long. It's no longer news - it's verging on soap opera or voyeurism, almost like an Atrocity Exhibition, masquerading as 'News'.

    Atrocity Exhibition

The very phrase has been bouncing 'round my skull throughout this coverage.

Social media is getting progressively more dangerous with situations like this, some of the inaccurate/outlandish claims on Twitter are being shared by hundreds of thousands who seem happy to accept any old bollocks is true.

    I blame social media.

Why not just ban those trying to derail it and leave it open for those who want to post sensible stuff?

If you have to delete more than two posts from a certain poster just stop them posting on the thread in question.

This is a very emotive and important issue and it isn't fair to stop responsible posts.

You mods do a cracking job but don't let the few spoil it for the rest of us.

You haven't deleted one of my posts have you?

Just wanted to log my thoughts, prayers and thanks to all the 999 responders to the High Rise Fire tragedy.

These people will always respond in an emergency, regardless of their personal risk, as so many of them did. Many are still there, securing the building.

They do an amazing job and deserve the thanks and praise of everyone involved in this tragedy, whether in reality or vicariously

Fire Service, Ambulance/Emergency Evacuation Service, Police, Voluntary Services, Salvation Army,WVS, churches, community groups, volunteers from all walks of life..............

    We salute you

Is it a massive problem that the thread becomes slightly political? The issue could well yet again prove to be the underfunding of social housing, and generically the poor. Obviously, we're all in it together?? We do seem quite content to let this happen. For some on here, it is our only access to social media.

Some political points can't be helped I agree. Everything is political
It's the personal arguments spoiling some good points
