next: Update on LFC v bottom half clubs

Games played 15
Goals scored 45
Goals conceded 6
Games won 14
Games drawn 1
Games lost 0
Win ratio 94%
Draw ratio 6%
Loss ratio 0%
Goals per game 3
Goals conceded per game 0.4

I don't know about you guys but if i were a bottom half side i would not want to play LFC. the only game where we had an issue was a poor sowing where we led brentford twice and they basically hoofed lucky balls over on a six pence blindly and they dropped in.

we have Watford, Villa, Newcastle, Everton, Southampton to go (perhaps Southampton will be moved to top half for leicester soon) win all 5 and 4th is outs. our forms suggests we will.

Our top half is not as nice reading.

Games played 11
Goals scored 23
Goal conceded 13
Games won 4
Games drawn 5
Games lost 2
Win ratio 36%
Draw ratio 45%
Loss ratio 18%
Goals per game 2.1
Goals conceded per game 1.18

We have
Arsenal, West ham, Man Utd, Man City, Brighton, Spurs, wolves to play. some toughies and some we should just win cos we have to.

to win the league we need to win them all.

3 of those draws v top bald were against Chelsea twice and city though who are far superior to rest of the top half.

take this out it’s 8 games. 4 wins, 2 draws 2 defeats. Not brilliant but not as bad.

well it is what it is, it is the difference largely between us and city. the missed opportunity that leading (v cheslea and city and failing to complete the game and not scoring for 45mins v a 10 men cheslea) at home represents.

Brighton was also a 2 goal lead at the time.

I think we have improved since or at least look it with vvd at least.

the big thing is thiago is now ****ed again and won't be back before the inter game for sure.

We improved defensively with VVD returning to great levels and by having Thiago / Naby next to Fabinho. The combination works brilliantly.

He's played well before and will do again, don't let bias for your love child get in the way of your judgement mate

Not biased mate. I think he was very poor for the first 15 mins (partly down to being thrown in at the last minute and the other down to the rest of the team not being at the races).

The reason why I think he was good is because we got more control once he got into the game along with Fabinho, and how our left side was really really good. It was the source for a lot of our attacks and good play. The other reason is what I mentioned earlier - Kante and Kova literally bully our team every game. Kova still had a good game because he was up against Hendo (who was the worst of the midfield 3 and by some distance) whilst Kante had one of his poorest games - a lot of it down to Naby. And no coincidence that we lost ALL control once he came off and Milner came on his place.

That's not to say he was amazing but it's to say we need to stop expecting him to be the Leipzig all action midfielder he once was. As the left CM, he needs to sit alongside Fab and protect - he's a Gini lite. Nothing fancy but he's blocking passing lanes and covering space, and is a pressing demon. He is the only person who can cover for Thiago in that role and his record in the team with Fab is very very good. Not a coincidence.

Ketia really really wasn't good

He wasn't at the races.

It was matip and vvd holding the ball and slowing it down that got us into the game a bit.

We can all see Luis Diaz's quality on the ball but how is he getting on off the ball in one of the toughest and more complex pressing teams in world football:

Using just my eyes, I'd have said he's one our better if not best presser. The lad never stops running, I think he's got bionic lungs!

By all accounts been on radar for few years and we’re going to make a move this summer for him, but spurs being interested in January’s is prob best thing to happen for us as it made us push ahead early and no doubt he’s going to provide a boost for the run in.

Does make you wonder why we were going to wait. I know klopp doesn’t like doing business in January but if they are confident in the right player then get them in asap surely.

This is my one criticism of our recruitment (but is also a strength) - we identify perfect players but we are happy to wait for them. Sometimes, we can wait a bit too long which then means our squad is a little light until that person comes in (we could have done with Konate last year and would have been good to have another attacker last year).

But we wait and wait for that perfect player to become available and we will do our best to not deviate from that. It also gives the player the opportunity to make it clear that they want LFC only - we will not engage in bidding wars for players.

not when we have greats like milner, orgi and minamino mate. they allow us to wait for ever... apparently.
