So far not impressed at all. No sharpness and really should have scored an open goal. Not better than what we’ve got already surely.

I agree to a large extent but you have to take into account this PSV side is poor. And much as I love Van Nistlerooy as a player I'm not sure he's a good manager looking at the way they're playing.

Rangers scored a goal just like the 2nd goal Utd conceded st Brentford. Exactly the same scenario. Same gk suicide pass and same goal. Ridiculous how often these goals are scored.

I don’t think a game is enough make any judgement call on any player.

Overall, he still creates and scores more than Antony in the same league. Having said that, they play in different systems which can be material to their respective outputs. I do like Antony’s flare but Gakpo seem more direct with his approach.

You're right of course. One thing I will say from watching this game though, it's no surprise they both want to come to us.

It’s the whole “modern” game thing. I’m not sure where I stand on the idea of messing around with the ball in the back.

Gapko is a number 11 but likes going through the middle and getting in the box when he's not on the ball.

I'm not going to judge the bloke off one game but what I have liked about him tonight is:

1) His movement off the ball, moves between the lines and not afraid to go central and get into the box.

2) Good passer of the ball.

3) Takes all of PSV's set pieces. Good delivery, sometimes floats the ball instead of whipping it in though.

4) Likes a tussle, . Tracks back as well.

After extensive research ( around 6 mins) into our two main targets (Gakpo and Anthony) I discovered that both are classed as goal scoring wingers. We have plenty of them already, what we are seriously lacking is a goal scoring striker, we have one very good but very old one which is not enough.

Yes very much this.

I can only think that Ten Hag has plans to turn one of them into a striker OR make one of ours into a striker with one/both of them coming in to fill their place.

OR he doesn't think one or two of ours are good enough in the wing forward position :bandit:

Over 90 minutes nothing about Gakpo impressed. Sure the whole team was absolutely rank but even among mediocre players he didn’t stand out. This was a massive match for them but they never rose to the challenge. PSV was really poor and didn’t deserve to go through.

Tbf both these sides were gash up front.

Whoever qualified will be fodder for the other sides in their group.

He had no joy from Rangers defenders in a huge match. How is he going to deal with better and more physical opposition in the premiership? We want better players than what we have. I can’t see him improving the squad.

This is exactly why I can’t understand why £80m as reported will be spent in Antony. That baffles me.
It is also now being suggested that Elanga may be out on loan with Everton being interested. WTF would be the point of that?
