One thing I hadn't realised is that Fred and Casemiro are the Brazil national team's first choice midfield pairing. Might it be McTominay who makes way....

I'd say definitely but Ten Hag gave McT the start after Fred's showing against Brentford. Maybe he has more faith in him.

Tbh I'd start Fred with Casemiro all day long.

Or go with Eriksen + Bruno + Casemiro against the weaker sides.

So apparently...

Ajax and Antony are waiting for United to come in with an improved offer. Ten Hag wants him.

United (out of respect) are waiting for PSV's CL qualifier tomorrow before also putting in an offer for Gapko who is keen on joining.

And...

United representatives travelling to Barca to complete the signing of De Jong.

Dare to dream?

I prefer Gapko. Seem to be more direct when compared to Antony.

If you look at the performances of Elanga, Sancho, Rashford and Martial last night, with Garnacho also an option, is there genuinely any need to buy both?

I'm down with buying one (Antony), and then Rashford and Martial would need to be vying for centre forward.

Truth is, we'd be better buying an Ivan Toney than either tbh.

De Jong though, still a yes.

Very strong rumour that Depay may be coming back. Hopefully he’s more mature now and he’ll be working hard rather than prance around like in the first time thinking he’s made it. He’s talented and I’m sure he can do a job for the team if he puts in the hard graft.

Really?

He did have a buy back clause but that was when he first left, he's been about a bit since then.

Always liked him myself. As you say, would hopefully have matured.

If true, this all sound good with EtH building strength in depth for the squad with a mixture of youth and experience. I read that Depay is available for £8m p- a steal even if it doesn't work out there out to be some resale value.

My share that sentiment. I would rather see the best of all those listed players than simply bringing in new players. And I certainly don’t think that Antony is worth £80m. That is crazy money for a player that is still developing and without PL experience.

Tbh I don't care about the price paid. What I am interested in is that the player wants to come here and is a player that fits into the manager's plan and vision. Weve pissed 1 billion for hardly any return and without any plan for us to worry about a few millions extra.

We are building a core of players that fit into the eth system. That can be only a good thing as we get rid of the old wood.

Antony is a player that the manager already knows, he is aware of his strengths and what he brings to the team so he isn't a speculative purchase in that sense. As for the price, that's the Manchester United/pissed of Ajax premium that we have to face up to.....

This Premier League experienced idea is a false flag anyway.

Two things- how many are there of the required quality? And who would we be trying to get those players from?

Therefore, how much?

It's hardly that we can go to Spurs and get Son (for example) for a cool £50 million is it?

No ****ing chance.

Trust in Ten Hag. Give him what he wants to get us up into the top 4.
That is just horrible to read. We should spend £300m only to aim for Top 4 finish? Surely we should expect better even for the first season in charge if we pretend that the season only just started this past weekend.

The challenge that with overspending is that it has been the same card used for the last decade. Consequently, we continue to pay so many players with no output yet on fat wages. I prefer creative signings mixed with youth and to keep the wage bill lower to keep the egos in check.

You missed the first sentence mate. No point highlighting the rest without really taking in the first.

Trust Ten Hag. Getting us up the table into the Top 4 is the first stage but actually looking like we belong there is completely different. Completely different to previous seasons when we've managed it imo. Then we can challenge for the league title.

I'm watching the PSV Eindhoven v Rangers CL qualifier for Gakpo but it's so hard to tell how good he is when PSV are so poor ffs. He's hardly had the ball.

He should've scored just then. Good movement, straight on goal, keeper to beat and he hit it over.

So far not impressed at all. No sharpness and really should have scored an open goal. Not better than what we’ve got already surely.

I don’t think a game is enough make any judgement call on any player.

Overall, he still creates and scores more than Antony in the same league. Having said that, they play in different systems which can be material to their respective outputs. I do like Antony’s flare but Gakpo seem more direct with his approach.
