I suggested they could be, that is no exercise (presume you meant excuse) but a very possible reason given that the club allowed him to miss the tour because of it. Any reason the others could have left?

What are these negative distractions you refer to, i have not seen one comment by either the player or his ****house agent all summer. Just to be clear, i believe he probably does want out because he is getting close to his last chance of European glory (how many players use the CL as an excuse to change clubs even if it's to a club that is in it for a very rare time).
The point i am trying to make to you is that he (or his agent) has said nothing to the press or on SM hence the lack of quotes yet you seem very uptight about the distraction he is causing.

I don’t need media to tell me that CR is all about self before the team. Yes, he has the drive, but he is also hell bent on looking out for himself before the club. He is therefore evidently selfish on various counts. Let’s not blame the media for that. I have no idea why you and Diego continue to make excuses for him at this point. It’s the same way others made excuses for Ole when clearly evidence suggested it was unwarranted to keep covering the cracks.

I hope that ultimately despite all the indications to the contrary DeJong turns up at OT and TenHag gets his wish. That all the DJ pronouncements putting the club in an unflattering light were/are just tactical moves to get his current club to cough up the £17m owed to him. Is Plan A still realistic or do people have to accept reality and go for plan B? Do we seem so desperate that selling clubs can smell that from several thousand miles off and increase the prices of the alternatives like Neves and Tielemans (which btw they’ve already done beyond the DeJong price !!!). Is our desperation so evident that Barcelona are forcing their debts onto us ? Have we lost 2 months of precious time in recruiting and on the training ground by focussing so much on one ‘reluctant’ player?

I haven't seen them in full games yet (only highlights) but Malacia and Martinez look the absolute dogs bollocks, fast combative, great on the ball and good vision and passing.
If his choice of midfielder is in the same bracket we will be vastly improved this season.

Diego, we can’t keep throwing in the notion of the transfer windows is still on as a valid argument of “let’s wait and see”. We have lost so many players in that midfield that we are evidently lite there even with the inclusion of Eriksen. For a club that was prepared to sell so many of its players, we should not be here with five days off the start of the season still talking about who is coming in.

Why deny that we have wasted time chasing shadows in the name of “one player”. I have also said this before that simply getting the player that you want is half the battle. How effective they become when they actually join is always a “show me” story.

For example even within the club itself, at the players that we brought in last season and where it ended. Look at how many players we have wasted time chasing in so many years and what the results have been. This is why I do not see prove that chasing a single player indefinitely is the right approach.

This season in particular, we absolutely should have had Plan A and Plan B. If the manger wants a certain player, he has to provide a backup player if the pursue of his original player is going to drag the club into disrepute.

That said, if De Jong comes in, great! I just hope that it doesn’t happen on the back of us paying his owed wages. I’ll save my next rant for if that ever happens after wasting two months.

I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. The task of managing Utd is uniquely difficult. A massive club with very poor (until recently) support infrastructure.

All the rumours coming out from the DeJong camp suggest that Utd is not his first choice if he was inclined to leave. Does Ten Hag have a cast iron guarantee from the player that he’ll come here? I am sceptical and now it looks that Chelsea have formally made their interest known and if he does go to Chelsea, after 3 months of humiliating chasing of a player apparently not keen to come to us (he’s gleefully told it publicly umpteen times) then Ten Hag and the executives would have no one but themselves to blame.

As I’ve said many times,I do hope the manager is eventually successful but as the crunch time comes nearer it looks like he may be snatched right under our nose. CL doesn’t look that insignificant anymore does it?

What do you mean by “IF”? What former evidence do we need to know that he IS a problem? Why do we continuee to play down the significance of the sideshow that he has become?

That is from the manager himself. You were both adamant that there was no foul play when it was clear that a player of Ronaldo’s calibrate should not be leaving a game halfway through. He is a shi**y leader for this team.

I get it that we love Ronaldo, but we need to call things as they are without biases. He’s useless in this team with his attitude and the sooner he’s gone, the better it is for ETH. It is a waste of time even talking about Ronaldo in press conferences. Utterly fkin useless distraction!
