How many debates went on after the norwich game with WUM's putting comments on and then letting others run wild with them. Finally, I will also continue to post my own personal opinion and view as - they may not always be good posts, maybe an occasional good one, and at times I may spurt out a load of old pony, but it's my view...and Im entitled to get bored of regurgitated comments
I think you were spot on Ninj. I would like to add something about NW's post match comments: Am I the only person that thinks there might be some shrewd consideration behind his apparent post-match rants? He does slate refs a lot but everyone must surely realise that the rub of the green over the course of the season does NOT even itself out. Consistently, the big clubs get the big decisions, the medium/established clubs get even calls and newly promoted teams lament their luck. What has Warnock got to lose by publicly criticising decisions to such an extent that there becomes mass discussion and scrutiny? Sure, we won't win many friends with his "constant moaning" but it surely, surely puts just a hint more pressure on refs to not mess up (insofar as Barton's reputation getting sent off might give us a few fairer shouts later in the season). His seemingly clueless inability to have a go at bad performances - we're on a bad run - would slating them help their fragile confidence? Despite that, and I mentioned this a while ago, he had a dig at Traore earlier in the season but won't do the same to Taarabt. Could it possibly be that one player needs a boot up the backside while the other needs fathering? We know that he does get to know his players and speaks to them so why can't we assume that he knows how to get the best out of them - motivating players and knitting them into a team is seen as his strongest asset wherever he's been. Could he possibly just be a bit smarter than the ranty manager that everyone takes him for? His only new challenge is working with big players - he's had little over 4 months and automatically assume he can't do this. I, for one, believe he does have a psychological aptitude and a quick mind. How about we get behind him and test this theory?
Possibly Matt but I can't see any kidology in basically accusing RVP of cheating. To what end does that serve ? To me it comes across as petty when really he should acknowledge that the lad is a great player. I also would like an end to this 'we're going to go out there give it our best and enjoy it' platitudes when half the time we've looked poor. I'm bored of this 'we're just pleased to be here' crap. It's as mindless as wenger when he says 'I didn't see the incident'.
Some good, well thought out posts on here. Brix captures my view best. Can't really see the point of changing now, but NW needs to up his game considerably, and I am losing confidence. The old paranoia is creeping back, his comments about Van Persie really wound me up - completely unnecessary and undignified especially as we had played pretty well and Wenger had complimented us. NW has the best bunch of players he has ever managed ( who from Sheff Utd, Jagielka aside, has had a top flight career?) The way they perform is his job. We know they can be a good team, let's be one consistently. Two decent defenders, a goalscorer and a more positive attitude, no more excuses. All a bit obvious again I'm afraid Col!
I do get that point about RVP. I'm not saying he's not competitive and usually a loss manifests itself as being a bad loser - better that he vents his frustrations on others (albeit childishly) than tearing his players a new one. The enjoying ourselves is a way of deflecting pressure from the players (a ploy that Olly used in no small measure) but yes it is a little repetitive. Perhaps I'm massively overestimating him but I do think there's some truth in this.
SB.73 - think you've touched on something there - we do need solid CBs (not the psychic kind) and a goal scorer. Warnock isn't working with a set of tools to do the job - give that to him and let him stand by the end product.
Okay, so this poll asks for a general consensus on Warnock. As the vote stands tonight, it's a 70% - 30% retained belief in our manager for this season. BUT that 30% wasn't there at the start of this season - or indeed at the end of the game against Stoke. Does this indicate continued support from grateful fans, or that somewhere in the background a bell tolls and those clangers are getting louder? That's the relegation bell, that is... The consensus has to be we need a series of wins - and soon.
It's a combination of Warnock and what he's got to work with AND the the size of our ground. Tony Fernandes is a business man and certainly has made his calculations. Is it in his interest to spend large sums while we still have such a small capacity ground? Maybe he thinks it could be better from an economic perspective to oscillate between the Championship and Premiership until we have a new ground and he has cashed in on the sale of Loftus Road for some other use... Those are my fears, hope I'm wrong.
Would oscillating between the Championship and Premiership secure the type of Asian fanbase we also need though Imaz? I doubt there'd be much coverage or interest in second tier football - and it wouldn't be likely to do much for Airs Asia and/or Malaysia imo.
You are right but I have to admit that having once been married into an Indonesian family their prejudices have probably subconsciously influenced me in some way. (which is wrong) However, look at his F1 cars. If relegation existed there...

I agree with this really and voted yes, also if we are going to be involved in a relegation dogfight which seem inevitable then hopefully Warnock will shine in this environment. Also don't really see a long list of quality replacements who want the job. Warnock is beginning to worry me more each week though particularly with his inconsistency and attitude towards players and referees, earlier in the season when Traore got sent sent off for an ill timed and fairly pointless tackle he came stragiht out after the match and called him a disgrace (which i thought was a little harsh) ... when Joey gets involved like he did at the weekend Warnock didn't seem to criticize Joey at all. He cannot keep blaming the refs, we all know they are going to make ****e decisions every game, over the course of a season poor ref decisions cannot be used as a reason for relegation.
Final comment from me on this (and I can hear the cheers now). Sir Alex Ferguson - it took him 3 years to win the FA Cup a Man U and that was after a lucky Mark Robins goal in the third round. I am not saying that NW is in the same mould as SAF, but it took him three years to get that initial part of the silverware. During that time he was building a reserve side and developing youth team squad, something we haven't always had. Surely our long term future depends on how the club is structured as a whole. NW won something in his first complete season with us, a championship where the teams we competed against may not have been of premiership quality - BUT there were more games played to reach the top. We all knew that when we wnet up we were not going to run awa with premiership title, or be a top 4 side - we haven't the stadium or players capable (yet) of doing that. If we end up like WBA and going up and then dwn and then up for next few years, keep the Sky money coming in, are careful with the contracts offered to players in terms of salary, relegation clauses etc we will be alright. It may eventually happen, that maybe NW will take us to a point where we then need to reconsider appointing a new manager - I just don't see the point in this happening now. If a new boss came in now, how much money would TF give him as he may well have a different idea in terms of personnel than NW. Injuries and suspensions occur during a season, and this may have reflected in the way we have played some of the games so far, we may have had injured or players not fully fit sitting on the bench - we as fans are not always privy to that information. Chopping and changing managers in last few years didn't exactly help our cause. If TF andthe Indian backers support NW and buy into what he wants for the club then we should support him. Nuff said
Not sure I'd agree with that, it depends how you look at it. If you look at the last Formula 1 season the 3 newest teams (HRT, Virgin Racing and Team Lotus) were comparable to the 3 promoted teams in this years prem. At the end of the season Team Lotus finished 10th overall and were named as "best new team", acheiving "Column One" status in the process, which is comparable to QPR securing their prem status in football. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/nov/28/team-lotus-caterham-tony-fernandes So really, if you look at Tony's F1 and football teams in parallel then I'd say the omens don't look too bad! ... Just goes to show what I know then TIMK! Been watching F1 for years. Ardent (armchair) McClaren fan who gets so pissed off when Hamilton chokes, I lose the will to keep watching to the end. So blinkered in fact that I had no idea Team Lotus had actually done that well!! Better educated after your comments. Thanks for that!
