Before I begin let's make a couple of things clear. Whilst I am certainly losing confidence in Neil Warnock, with Martin O'Neil no longer available, there is no one around with the instant results qualities of people like MO'N and Arry to replace him. Anyone else would be an even bigger gamble than Neil himself - so he has to be kept on in the vague hope he'll get off his soapbox and start learning from his mistakes.
Given our poor performance over recent decades, I was very optimistic about NW's appointment as manager. I felt certain we'd at last got a solid leader on board and we were going places. Whilst l remained confident throughout last season, I started to become slightly concerned by the lack of innovation, plan B and some choices of sub in the last two or three months. Everything seemed to hinge of the performance of a maverick player, until we eventually stumbled over the line and won the title.
All good, I thought, if extremely lucky with the Faurlingate affair. Obviously, this had nothing to do with Warnock who delivered a great performance in keeping spirits up throughout that and the farce of a close season that was to follow.
However, this year I have to say I'm losing confidence in Warnock's ability to set us on the right tracks. Playing reasonably well is one thing but scoring points is another. Seems to me that if Norwich or Swansea had had the chance to get the likes of Barton, SWP, Young and Ferdinand in, they'd be flying now - even more than they are.
With us there are serious questions in both content AND style.
As far as content goes, there's far too much reliance on the expected reinforcements. In order to accommodate them, we need a system that emphasises attack over defence rather than the other way round. Two or three holding mids is one or two too many. It means a total of seven or eight defenders and straight away we're calling the opposition into our half of the pitch - where mistakes not only can and do happen BUT keep happening.
Warnock needs to take adult responsibility for what isn't working and get solid systems in place. Doesn't matter how big, strong, skillful or otherwise a new striker may be, he won't be effective without plenty of service. By crowing on about match officials etc., NW's making enemies of the thought police and completely unnecessarily. It won't help our cases for clemency at all. In other words, he's doing exactly what Barton did in confronting Johnson and losing not only the game but the skipper for the next three!
We need to learn from our more obvious mistakes - and quite frankly, Neil seems to be making the same ones over and over again.
As for style, I can see something emerging around 'in yer face', upsetting tactics - blending in rather improbably with that slik pass and move ability. Saw parts of each against Chelsea on the one hand and Toon, Spurs and City on the other. The whole thing accually started to come together against Swans. If this blend of styles was designed and intended to become characteristic of Rs 2012, more of same please... Problem is though, I'm also seeing too much hoofy creeping in to make me entirely sure we do know what we're doing.
With all the lovey stuff going on upstairs, it's going to take some time before the owners get the hump enough to start scouting around for alternatives. Fix yer belts please for another frightening trip on the Rangers rollercoaster!!

I also would like an end to this 'we're going to go out there give it our best and enjoy it' platitudes when half the time we've looked poor.
I'm bored of this 'we're just pleased to be here' crap.
It's as mindless as wenger when he says 'I didn't see the incident'.
Would oscillating between the Championship and Premiership secure the type of Asian fanbase we also need though Imaz? I doubt there'd be much coverage or interest in second tier football - and it wouldn't be likely to do much for Airs Asia and/or Malaysia imo.
You are right but I have to admit that having once been married into an Indonesian family their prejudices have probably subconsciously influenced me in some way. (which is wrong) However, look at his F1 cars. If relegation existed there...
I'm still wearing my rose tinted glasses. I would also say that it is too late to change the manager for this transfer window, otherwise we would end up with another last minute bargain hunt like in August.
Not sure I'd agree with that, it depends how you look at it. If you look at the last Formula 1 season the 3 newest teams (HRT, Virgin Racing and Team Lotus) were comparable to the 3 promoted teams in this years prem. At the end of the season Team Lotus finished 10th overall and were named as "best new team", acheiving "Column One" status in the process, which is comparable to QPR securing their prem status in football.Ah 'Lotus', 22nd on the grid. You've might have a point there. A bit of WBA-type oscillating it may have to be!

So really, if you look at Tony's F1 and football teams in parallel then I'd say the omens don't look too bad!
... Just saying.![]()
