Brought in to mentor Delap and for late cameos. On the odd occasion when he has come on, one or two nice touches aside, he's contributed nothing. Not a surprise as his career was over. I thought it was ridiculous at the time that we would bring in a player to mentor someone else, even more so when their game is totally different. Isn't that the coaching team's job?

Rosenior wanted Connolly; largely a waste (as some warned). And then Ohio - what the hell was the point when we needed a striker now, not someone who we might or might not sign for next season. With the money spent on Sharp and Ohio we could have had a decent striker for this 2nd half of the season. And arguably the money spent on Carvahlo could have been used for a striker too as we already had enough players in that mold, even more so when Omur came in. Tufan has bizarrely become a bit part player. Traore doesn't even get a look in.

You keep going on about Connolly being a waste despite him still being our top goal scorer. <doh>

We didn't get Sharp to play, he was brought in to mentor Delap.

So I was told on here, Delap who I think is here on loan and may already have been injured when we gave sharp a contract.

Delap got injured after Sharp was brought in. Delap is/was clearly a player we felt had a permanent future at City.

I've said repeatedly that he's a decent player.
But no good when he isn't on the field. It was unfortunate that he was clattered by Gunn, but there is and always will be something going on with him.

I was watching the highlights today of our last game with Cardiff and he's honestly like a different player there. I think people forget just how good he was in the first half of the season.

The main problem is that Connelly is our top scorer and he hasn’t figured for most of the season. Alongside a proper centre forward I think he would have done well. We are missing a 15 to 20 goal per season striker and that’s been the real difference this year. Wasting money on a player to mentor other players when you have coaches to do that has been daft.

He probably needs some good therapy Connolly, in the nicest way possible. He clearly loves the footballers lifestyle (abit too much) but there must be something wrong which means he can go from that level in the first half to being uninterested all of a sudden. This was a make or break season for him as a player and now most wouldn’t care if he was released

I don’t see any where in how we play that allows two centre forwards though.

I don’t think we would have been able to sign him if it wasn’t for his troubles. When he’s firing he’s great, but we got him because others don’t want to touch him for the other stuff.

So…

At least 4 of the loanees we’ll never see again.

Our 2 most sellable players will be, umm, sold.

We’re shipping out several of the bench players because they’re not good enough.

We’re moving on some of our older players because they’re on too high a wage.

We’re not renewing some contracts because of attitude /age/ ability (delete as applicable).

Recruitment lads are gonna be busy over the summer.

The reason I asked was it said undisclosed fee. If that is correct he was an absolute bargain. Some scout has done a good job.

We signed about 40 young lads one season and ended up with a few good ones, Joseph/Summerville/Struijk

I don't.
But there is and always will be something going on with him, which leads to him missing far too much.
As Brady comments, "His ability is unquestionable. But there's something else not right.".
We were warned and now we've seen it ourselves over an extended period. How much more evidence do we need.
Edit: Connolly 8 goals this season. Oscar 13 last (with poorer players around him).

Coming here it's like I wasn't at the same game

Rosenior has you playing great football at a difficult place to play, lacking that cutting edge but surely give him resources and it comes?

Your club showed class on and off the field

Elland Road has been nervy a lot of the season but yesterday was poor, some abject performances from our lot (2 games in a row) but got the job done, Summervilles worst game for a long time and no idea how they gave him motm, thought Byram should have got it

Farke has rode his luck many times just by the fact he is working with quality above players

Good Luck for the rest of the season lads far better than most of the others I've seen

Yep that’s the match I watched too. There are a few (and it’s just a few) on here who love to wallow in doom and gloom, posting the same thing over and over again. But most I speak to see the progress we have made and fervently hope it will continue.
