Even more seriously underwhelmed by this than when Cotterill arrived.
Once again a cheap option! I am now 99% certain that I will not renew my season ticket even if we stay up.

So basically my opinion on this:

    Pros
    - Decent young football manager. Apparently well respected with modern ideas.
    - Did very well at Oldham, despite rebuilding their squad time after time he kept progression going.
    - Barnsley fans think he's done well for them.

    Cons
    - So many managers do very well in the lower leagues, where there are many free agents and so much opportunity to rebuild time after time. You do not get away with this in the Championship, where ultimately money is everything and where his own Dad failed spectacularly (Peter Styvar anyone?). I'm a huge fan of both but GJ was not a Championship Manager. LJ has never been given money to work with, so he is unproven here.
    - The club's philosophy is to move forward with wise, young purchases and making use of the youth academy. We're now appointing a manager who's success is measured on his ability to rebuild squads season after season, with short-term contracts and loan players, meaning rebuilds every year. This contradicts entirely with our supposed philosophy. Given that, if LJ had agreed to work within our ideas, we are 100% taking a punt in this aspect, given he has no experience in this.
    - Steve Cotterill was sacked due to 'the club's aspiration to ultimately become a Premier League club'. Have we really moved forward from Cotts to LJ?
    - Mark Ashton says we've had over 40 applicants and you'd be surprised by the calibre of managers that have applied. Well why have we gone for LJ over all of these presumably 'proven' applicants Mark?

I am sure I will re - adjust my thoughts but at the moment I find this beyond belief and my faith in the team owners and senior management, what a stinking, hypocritical bunch our suits are after all the promises and words of keep the faith, I don't want to comment about being betrayed but I simply and honestly have lost all my trust and faith in the bastards, I can't say any more.

Bit unfair to say GJ failed spectacularly........He did get us 90 minutes away from the Premiership, can't take that away from him.
LJ Would not have been my No1 as I'm not sure he has what it takes to get us out of this mess that we are currently in.....having said that, if he does then who knows!!

If it happens, I hope the fans give him their 100% support

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant with regard to money and the wise spending of it. I still love GJ for everything he did for us.

It was what GJ did after the Hull game that created the mess that followed. Overpaid, underperforming s***e recruited by his brother, the chief scout!

For all we know is they want to consider him not offer him the job, let's be negative when the appointment is announced.

My opinion is that I don't think he's the best person out there, but I was against Cotterill and over the moon with McInnes so what do I know.

    From the Barnsley forum:

Bristol City: Want an underachieving head coach who's mid table with a top six budget. A guy heavily reliant on loans who's best three players are a former player everyone knew about and two Danny Wilson signings. Failed to prove himself in the transfer market. Wouldn't be in the frame at all there if he wasn't a former player.

    Club Statement: Lee Johnson

When Lee Johnson was appointed to the role of Head Coach at Barnsley Football Club, it was intended to confine and focus his activities on the development, organisation and recruitment of players for the first team. The limitation of this role was to allow other management staff to have similar remits relating to the Academy, U18 and U21 teams. Partly, the purpose in designating the Head Coach role in this way was to limit the impact in the event of a change and to encourage succession planning.

This morning we gave permission to Lee Johnson to speak to Bristol City concerning their managerial vacancy. We gave this permission because we believe that the structures that we now have in place must be the key to our future success rather than dependence on a single individual. If Lee decides to stay with Barnsley Football Club we will be delighted, but if he chooses to move on, we will continue unabated with the plan we have in place for the progression of our Club.

We will provide further information in due course.

    Its a sentence
We are being sentenced to eternity between L2 and the Championship.

    Therefore, not a forward step.
Where has Lansdown's courage gone ?
