Please don't get me wrong, I'm dead chuffed we are where we are and by the progress we have made in last couple of years. Today left me feeling flat. It maybe that I'm reading too much into what I saw today compared to what the last couple of months have given, but I just expected more. I've been a fan for many a year, and want nothing more than a well run, successful club. I'd rather be hard to please than just accept the status quo, we can do better as a club and should strive to do better.

I thought they all looked well up for it, well bar Guly who looked a little bit caught in the headlamps unfortunatly.
They were well disciplined, but a bit nervous in the first half. The big lads at the back soaked up everything well, then in the second half the passing was much better, dealt with the hostile setting in a very mature manner.
It was gutting conceeding when we did, as we were far better & they looked pretty clueless up front, but, that point could well prove vital come May.
Look forward to giving them a hard time in April when they come to town.
(feed the scummers, cheeky buggers)

Could barnard be the answer? He dosent exactly lack pace and appears more determined than Guly. Guly was awful and only good when the ball is at his feet and a bit of space to use, time for a change.

Barnard will be out for a couple of months at least following his op. Mind you, Barnard on one leg would have been more effective than Guly yesterday!

lacking passion? did you not see the players' reaction when we scored yesterday? <doh>

I saw that, but even I could get that excited for their weekly wage... I guess. I come from an older school where the players should be on their knees after 90 mins having given their all.... Derby or no derby...

No I cannot say the players lack passion. As I said in another thread the game got to a lot of players out there. There were quite a few that played under par. The wages they get will not play any part when it comes to passion. They are just interested in winning, nothing else during a game. I can understand when you say that they should be on their knees at the end of any game. They are trained in a different way now so they are not on their knees at the end of 90 minutes. That should not be mistaken for a lack of passion because they are not. They all wanted to win alright and they kept going until the end. unfortunately a lack lustre piece of defending cost us. Won't be the first nor the last worst luck....That as they say is football.

More importantly I think we need a striker with a turn of accelleration over short distances to get away from defenders. The way we play, we are unlikely to need players who can leg it from one end of the pitch to the other in a few seconds. Not sure on this one, but I think Barnard needed another op on his ankle.

What do you mean your not sure on this one??
