Looking at RTG it's clear to see people have become obsessed with all of this, to the point whereby pure guesswork is being posted as absolute fact.

There's no joy of promotion just straight back to Donald and Methven. One of the posts is that this season will show if KLD is serious.

So let's ignore the infrastructure he's put in place, the players he's brought in and the manager he's appointed ...

... no let's post endlessly about Donald and Methven, letting Flanagan go and how we shouldn't have talked to Roy Keane.

What makes a club big? It’s been discussed many times with a lot of opinions voiced. Obviously a good history, own the ground and the size of the facilities, money to buy the best players, and the size and intensity of its support. Sunderland ticks all except one; finance to buy the best. Or perhaps that is coming. In my opinion the most important of these requirements is the support. But not just the numbers, it’s the way in which those supporters do their supporting. And our supporters are immense! The way they celebrate but at the same time behave has really impressed me over the years. Generation after generation upholding the good name of the club. On Saturday their behaviour won the club friends from all over the country and the world. That short video of them at the end singing our anthem brought tears of pride to my eyes and even solicited a comment from FIFA, apparently. KLD must now be more determined than ever to take this club to the very top. Everyone who went to the game should be proud of themselves - I certainly am!

“ they celebrate but at same time behave”. Also behave even after the many disappointments. I remember way back , even to 70s and 80s , the met police commenting on our good behaviour and how welcome we were in London

I think one of the big differences and some people seem to have missed this in the clamour to spend money, moan about the insignificant owners is our recruitment is and has been geared towards players that can step up to the championship.

Someone posted a squad list and I make it 1 keeper, 2 centre Half's, 1 left back and 1 or 2 strikers are needed to top the squad up. At worst 6 players to give us 2 for every position.

As we are all aware LJ wanted a smaller squad for some reason so we would have needed 3 or 4 anyway to balance the squad and give Alex Neil the options he rightly pointed out we didn't have.

I'm very confident it is all in good hands and the plan developed will see is in far better shape than most other championship clubs

We are a lot stronger than some give us credit for, I recon two full backs and 2 strikers are all we are desparitly short of , due to previous mistakes, anything after that its a bonus imo. I will be happy with a mid table possition next season with further development at U23 level, but would not be surprised if we do better, the main objective for me would be to maintain progress overall , and not think that splashing cash is the only answer.. Neither will getting rid of CM and SD who have done little to merit the abuse they get from some quarters, who choose to ignore the perilous state we were in when they took over.

Im just going to enjoy our promotion and leave the important stuff to KLD and his mega qualified team and advisors, if you cant enjoy this summer after the last 3 then you never will. Some of the players we will be linked with this summer will be the stuff of dreams compared to the last 4 years.

KLD has a trust fund worth £3bn?

That's gone up then, as I'm sure it was around £2bn when he arrived.

But it's not oodles of cash that will get this club back operating properly again. It's doing the right things as often as we can, and it looks like we are on the way.

My opinion is that KLD is clearly the most likely buyer.

He's also, obviously, close to Sartori.

Anyone buying Donald and Methven's shares would know that's all they get.

They'd have absolutely no control over what KLD does.

So, as things stand, he has the upper hand and can basically ignore them but ensure they pay their dues.

I know we'd like them gone but they're basically harmless ...

... I get the feeling he's stitched them up.
I would like to think so.

"Not oodles of cash" - so true

Vast majority of football clubs are loss making. Unlike Saudis, this cannot be a vanity project for KLD, so, if people think a £3b trust fund means that he will spend £2.5b on SAFC, you'll be disappointed. How much of your spare cash would you invest in SAFC, knowing that, likely, you'd lose it all? Do you not want to secure a lifestyle for yourself and your family? What would your kids say - "my dad had £3b but he blew it all on a random foreign football team"?

We have no choice but to hope KLD knows what he's doing. And that includes regarding Madrox. Next season is a huge unknown. I, for one, would rather he spent the money he has on players to ensure we don't get relegated rather than buying out Madrox. He should only buy out Madrox if either a) it's fiscally better for him or b) they are impacting decision making at the club. He should not do it to placate the fans

Spot on

they can’t last for ever, they simply can’t afford it so why as fans should we remain fixated on them

KLD or someone related will buy them out when it suits them and not a second before.

God what a year this is turning out to be, promotion into the championship, the womens euros coming up, the start of the championship season, the World Cup AND I’m going on holiday over the new year and it’s actually aboard <party>

2022 man!

In a perverse way, could KLD keep these 2 hanging around longer than they actually want to be and end up rinsing them for a good few quid in the process if they have to match his investment?
If I was KLD I'd be doing that just to piss them off and really put pressure on them. Be something like this -

Me "we need to replace the pitch and also upgrade the academy, it's going to cost £20illion, there's my bit, I need yours.

SD and CM - err err err er

Me - oh you haven't got it, shall we dilute your shares then

Frankly if KLD or whoever started splashing the cash around, I'm not sure I'd like it. Sure it would be exciting but there'd be such a sense of pressure to succeed. And we'd be a laughing stock when we don't.

I'd much rather the club spent the money that we generate and we use it well and everyone applauds us as being a club that do things right.

In the PL - we absolutely should spend lots of money. And if we do things right in the championship, we won't have debts. So we can use the premier league TV money to spend on actual players rather than service old debt.

There is plenty off the field stuff to sort out that would cost a few quid and that's before talking about new players/contracts. I assume we can now recruit more staff and have a properly functioning ticket office, club shop (are they still swapping it over to BCH?), sort the PA system etc. etc.

I'd be a real ****house with it, tell them we need money to upgrade the directors toilets to solid gold seats, stuff like that

Absolutely. What I want KLD to do, what I've wanted any owner to do, is to make the club respected for the right things. Not for it just to be a rich man's plaything or, mentioning no names, a pawn in a political game.
