What makes a club big? It’s been discussed many times with a lot of opinions voiced. Obviously a good history, own the ground and the size of the facilities, money to buy the best players, and the size and intensity of its support. Sunderland ticks all except one; finance to buy the best. Or perhaps that is coming. In my opinion the most important of these requirements is the support. But not just the numbers, it’s the way in which those supporters do their supporting. And our supporters are immense! The way they celebrate but at the same time behave has really impressed me over the years. Generation after generation upholding the good name of the club. On Saturday their behaviour won the club friends from all over the country and the world. That short video of them at the end singing our anthem brought tears of pride to my eyes and even solicited a comment from FIFA, apparently. KLD must now be more determined than ever to take this club to the very top. Everyone who went to the game should be proud of themselves - I certainly am!
I would like to think so.My opinion is that KLD is clearly the most likely buyer.
He's also, obviously, close to Sartori.
Anyone buying Donald and Methven's shares would know that's all they get.
They'd have absolutely no control over what KLD does.
So, as things stand, he has the upper hand and can basically ignore them but ensure they pay their dues.
I know we'd like them gone but they're basically harmless ...
... I get the feeling he's stitched them up.
"Not oodles of cash" - so trueKLD has a trust fund worth £3bn?
That's gone up then, as I'm sure it was around £2bn when he arrived.
But it's not oodles of cash that will get this club back operating properly again. It's doing the right things as often as we can, and it looks like we are on the way.
Looking at RTG it's clear to see people have become obsessed with all of this, to the point whereby pure guesswork is being posted as absolute fact.
There's no joy of promotion just straight back to Donald and Methven. One of the posts is that this season will show if KLD is serious.
So let's ignore the infrastructure he's put in place, the players he's brought in and the manager he's appointed ...
... no let's post endlessly about Donald and Methven, letting Flanagan go and how we shouldn't have talked to Roy Keane.

If I was KLD I'd be doing that just to piss them off and really put pressure on them. Be something like this -In a perverse way, could KLD keep these 2 hanging around longer than they actually want to be and end up rinsing them for a good few quid in the process if they have to match his investment?
There is plenty off the field stuff to sort out that would cost a few quid and that's before talking about new players/contracts. I assume we can now recruit more staff and have a properly functioning ticket office, club shop (are they still swapping it over to BCH?), sort the PA system etc. etc.If I was KLD I'd be doing that just to piss them off and really put pressure on them. Me "we need to replace the pitch and also upgrade the academy, it's going to cost £20illion, there's my bit, I need yours.
SD and CM - err err err er
Me - oh you haven't got it, shall we dilute your shares then
I'd be a real ****house with it, tell them we need money to upgrade the directors toilets to solid gold seats, stuff like thatThere is plenty off the field stuff to sort out that would cost a few quid and that's before talking about new players/contracts. I'd imagine the end of season maintenance bill for the SoL, AoL, Hetton could be fairly hefty.I'd be a real ****house with it, tell them we need money to upgrade the directors toilets to solid gold seats, stuff like that
I agree and I don't think the club will scrimp on facilities.I'd imagine the end of season maintenance bill for the SoL, AoL, Hetton could be fairly hefty.
Absolutely. What I want KLD to do, what I've wanted any owner to do, is to make the club respected for the right things. Not for it just to be a rich man's plaything or, mentioning no names, a pawn in a political game.Frankly if KLD or whoever started splashing the cash around, I'm not sure I'd like it. Sure it would be exciting but there'd be such a sense of pressure to succeed. And we'd be a laughing stock when we don't.
I'd much rather the club spent the money that we generate and we use it well and everyone applauds us as being a club that do things right.
In the PL - we absolutely should spend lots of money. And if we do things right in the championship, we won't have debts. So we can use the premier league TV money to spend on actual players rather than service old debt.
