Kind of a gamble, but could pay off. Kaboul has been good when hes on his game, hes also been piss poor and a liability when hes not.
Hes definitely a step up from Brown and Oshea mind.

I think in this situation it is a case of 1 out (Vergini to Getafe) and 1 in so compare Kaboul to Virgini - I'm happy
He's much more experienced in the PL than Coates, much quicker than JOS, much more reliable than Brown and wants to play for Sunderland.
It's all very well saying we can do better but some players simply will not come to the far NE coast at any price.

More reliable than Brown in what way?
In that Brown can't be relied on not to give away stupid free kicks & penalties when he's chasing people running past him.
He's also at a point whereby we can't build a defence around him while fearing his legs will crumble.
IIRC his agent said he wouldn't come to us even if there was an earthquake or something.
**** him, he's ****e n'all.
It's safe to say that, unless you sign the best player in every position, you can do better.
He'll improve the squad, has a great passing average iirc & PL experience for one of the top sides.
The club is doing well this window.
Well IMO Kaboule will be a vital addition (remember Steve Bould ?) and just speaking to a Spurs fan rates Kaboule as very strong and reliable (he was like that when he played against us last season)Kaboul is only a fraction of the player he once was, I don't see this signing as a step up.

Thanks VJ - I mean't his agent but it does read as if it may have been Kaboule - definately not though no negativity there - i don't like too much negativity - opinionated observational realism yes - often seen as been negative but it all helps get rid of pent up emotions - esp mid season - its almost normal - so KTF but ETULooks like it is going to happen..
He will wear the red n' white shirt next season so he gets my full support..
I actually think this is a very astute signing that we will benefit from, not much of an outlay and very experienced. Means we spend more elsewhere now..
btw, I think it was his agent at the time that said the earthquake stuff. With a bit of luck he will be stood just above one right now..![]()
