How many of the subs are allowed to be used? 3 like normal or all of them? I see there's only 1 player not actually available & that's the 3rd keeper!

Late equaliser forces England Under-17s to settle for draw

England Under-17s were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Germany on Sunday afternoon, following a late equaliser in Lagos.

A first-half brace from Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst had put the Young Lions on course for their first win of 2016 and Ipswich Town keeper Nick Hayes kept England’s lead in tact with a penalty save in the second half.

But a late fightback from Germany saw them score in stoppage time to ensure it ended all square in the second game of the Algarve Tournament, following Friday’s 1-1 draw with host nation Portugal.
Steve Cooper’s side made a fantastic start too, with defender Ed Francis picking out Hirst on his full debut with a ball behind the defence in the 17th minute.
Hirst - son of former Sheffield Wednesday and England forward David - did the rest by beating two defenders and then finishing well past German keeper Lennart Grill.
Less than ten minutes later, Hirst scored his second of the game to put the Young Lions firmly in charge at half time.
But Germany fought well to work their way back into the game and Hayes prevented them from pulling a goal back by saving a spot-kick midway through the second half.
And he was helpless to stop Florian Baak reduce the arrears for Germany, which gave them hope as the game went into its later stages.
They were rewarded for their persistence too, as England’s resilience was broken in the final minute of stoppage time when substitute Renat Dadashov made it 2-2.
England will play their final game of the tournament on Tuesday afternoon when the Netherlands will be in opposition.

How many players who play for England at this level actually make a decent career for themselves?

How many of the best English players ever played at this level for England?

I randomly checked out the 2002 Euros squad (now mostly 30 years old), and of those 18 only Lee Croft (who showed promise but is now at Oldham), Wayne Routledge and someone called Rooney have had decent careers.

Ours dont seem to kick on like they do in the top european countries

The 2003 squad, though - much, much more successful!

Nathan Doyle was a regular Championship player for a few years as a holding midfielder. At Barnsley I think. Didn't last though obviously

poor thing. still, i expect they pay him. i see mark cullen escaped to blackpool for an actual fee. mark yeates, david norris, and will aimson are there too.

David Norris.

Wasn't everyone in the championship mouth foaming over him not so long ago?

I can't remember what he was like for us at all, though I do seem to remember us being interested in signing him from Plymouth.

Yes, me too, and again when he went to Portsmouth, and again when he went to Leeds I think it was?

I seem to remember just about the entire league was after him.
