This is very true, in the business that I'm in you would always get tradesmen doing the odd 'cash job' , but now it's become much more common. At the end of the day if someone wants to pay me £5k cash for goods that's fine. As a company we're doing nothing wrong it's none of our business how our customers' manage their accounts
Investing in an ISA in a British bank is at least keeping the money within our own fiscal economy and not being siphoned off to an international tax haven
I don't think I've ever paid a tradesman in anything other than cash, including the £1500 decking job we're having done on Monday (you know your age when you get really excited about having decking put in! )
But it is still avoiding tax paying, on a much smaller scale granted. Apparently 8 out of 10 cats tonight he gets it both barrells so at least he is man enough to face the music. The way i see it, its the government who should be saying sorry for letting such a loophole happen, not somebody who has taken advantage of something which is legal to do!
I see that..up to a point. However if you don't put enough through you will get investigated and it can be hard to turn business away.Rock and a hard place really. Thanks for that George.
I don't know the ins and out, something about you can put some much in from your wages i believe and if you declare it before taxation. I might be totally wrong but there is something about tax and ISA. I admit, if i can pay with cash i will do.
So basically you don't really know what you're talking about, thanks for clearing that up Oh, and I've not paid for the decking work yet but yes, I would sincerely hope that the price will include VAT
Just because i didn't know the ins and out of it all, doesn't mean that i'm wrong. There is definately something about tax relief and ISA. So basically its a government backed K2!
I don't object to paying my fair share of TAX but what I do seriously object to is it all being pissed up against a wall especially under the days of Gordon Brown! Thanks to his raid on my private pension it is now pretty much worthless. And then our poor GP's and Doctors go on strike as they will have to pay a little more to recieve their £68K a year pension.
Don't talk to me about Gordon ****ing Brown, we'll be here all day. I think probably his best decision was to sell all of our gold just before the world price shot through the roof !
Yes there would be services, they'd just be run by real, hard-working people and not forcibly prescribed in a one-size-fits-all fashion. And I'll bet it would save the average man a lot of money as well, not having to subsidize Quangos, bureaucrats and foreign wars with his money. Unless he really wanted to of course - that's the beauty of freedom: you can make your own choices with it. All I crave is a voluntary world where people aren't systematically extorted, stolen from and assaulted by the Government if they wish to live freely. Not saying other people can't elect politicians to manage their individual affairs if they so wish, that's totally up to them. The only things I know about the 'survivalist' movement are from the Louis Theroux documentary, and they seemed a decent enough bunch, living peacefully on the land they pay and work to own without either giving or taking from the government, albeit a bit paranoid about nuclear warfare and with the odd whackjob 'new world order' and 'white power' type among them. Nothing wrong with their cause overall in my eyes. You really think their land should be invaded and their possessions stolen to pay for services they don't want? I forget how aggressive and violent people are sometimes. Thanks. Glad you now know a proper moral argument. PS, if either of you have five minutes, this video might challenge your perceptions a bit.
all these posh boys wether Labour,Liberal or Tory aint got a clue, were all fed with a silver spoon , never done a days work, dont know what being hard up means........probably get arrested for saying this but dont you all think its time for a REVOLUTION!..... or we could start a not606 party where the only requirements are you must be skint, a football season ticket holder or have at least 5 away match stubs, bet we could sort out all the carp!..... K2 just damn well seize the assets for a start
I think the Not606 party will involve way too much debate, especially if the scummers are on board. Col_UMike can be our Boris "laughing stock" Johnson.
Yeah, they sound great - where do I sign up? And sorry I don't go along with your ideology mate, yeah sure it all sounds wonderful but any system involving human beings - and the greed the comes along with them - is ultimately going to end up broken and up to it's eyeballs in corruption and a world away from the happy clappy ideals they start off with. There you go, there's a bit of perspective from the real world, sorry to piss on your parade
You get that type of person in literally ANY political movement. Communist, socialist, liberal, conservative, nationalist - you name it, they've got some cranks in there. And actually the two racist chaps they interviewed in that documentary were roundly rejected by all the other 'survivalists' and actually preached in a different state altogether from the main camp. So to try damage their movement by association seems a little bit needless. I'd say exactly the same to you. "When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are the legislators". This utopian idea that government can work fairly has blown up into a corrupt and scandalous mess, and the ruling class have had their snouts firmly in the trough from day one - even the so-called saints among them like Tony Benn. At least with my ideal, the only people a person can damage with corruption and dysfunctionality is themselves and their family. At the moment, if a politician is corrupt and dysfunctional, they can (and do) damage whole countries. Following your argument to its logical conclusion, if you keep the power that corrupts people at the lowest possible level (i.e. the individual), surely that's the best way to keep it at bay? My parade hasn't even begun yet, you wait. The world is becoming a smaller place with the arrival of the internet and other technologies. Borders are getting broken down. Voluntary exchanges are on the up. Government is becoming increasingly meddlesome and unwanted by people. It's only a matter of time before things start to kick off - some would say they already have.
Thats a bit strange... I thought I was on a football forum for a moment not a message board for student agitators!
