To Jacky Ickx who commented about the Alonso Hamilton saga at Mc-Laren; That 's what I was telling people all this time, why they didn't have to shout at the wrong guy. It's very unfortunate things went that way. Thanks for the reply, it shows me that I found a good F1 forum where reasonable people speak their mind
I'd like to interject if you don't mind guys. It's a bit off-topic really, since I am not going to become embroiled in any tug of war over statistics. What matters to me is that the debate is handled with a certain decorum. Whatever one's opinion, there is an unwritten rule for debating: do not personalise comments against those you disagree with. Disagree sure. Disagree strongly by all means. But do not insult one another (even if that's what you really think). For instance: do not refer to other members as "idiot" etc. It is inflammatory and causes a rapid disintegration of the topic, rendering it nothing more than a puerile battle ground as we all know only too well. Please. Let's see a bit of restraint eh?
I've seen pics of Jenson as a lad in his Ferrari gear, he says nice things about the other teams but you don't forget your first love. I'd have him on the team instead of Massa but I have a feeling Ferrari are going to make a left-field selection for their new driver when Massa leaves at the end of the season, and Jenson fits in well with Hamilton at Mclaren.
Well after reading this topic I just don't know what to say, other than suggesting a read of the House Rules for some people. To the actual point.... No I don't think Jenson to Ferrari will happen any time soon. In fact I think he'll be with McLaren till the end now.
Why would anyone want to drive for ferrari...I always hated the red card...thought it was evil as a kid
To be honest Genji, I'm not concerned who it is, or who in particular said what. - I'm making a general point. One thing seems pretty certain to me: calling someone "idiot" is unlikely to make someone feel valued, and highly unlikely to get a more reasoned response from the person in question. If these sorts of insults are bandied about, we only have ourselves to blame if the forum descends to a lower level. - - - Back on the subject of Jenson Button: I very much doubt he'll go to Ferrari now. I believe he will remain with McLaren for a good while yet, perhaps even seeing out his days in F1 there. I think Ferrari are looking toward their own development programme with the likes of Perez etc. Besides, Button is not one to volunteer his services as a number 2. I know for certain that if he ever gets a sense of not being treated equally, he'll walk away from whoever does it to him, even if that ultimately means waving goodbye to the thing he loves more than anything…
House rules: -Play nice! Try and be civil to everyone -Respect everyone's opinions even if you disagree -Please avoid personal insults -No WUM articles (See definition below) -No accusing people of being WUMs just because their opinion differs to yours. -Where you make heavy use of material from elsewhere, please say where it came from. -No Spam posting - meaning repeatedly posting the same content, making multiple threads, or repeatedly advertising a website/service -Refrain from posting new threads when an existing thread covers the same topic. -No Racism or other forms of discrimination -No sustained personal attacks Give them an inch.........
McLaren star Jenson Button is a target for Ferrari, according to the News of the World. The former Formula One champion is being lined up as the perfect partner for their prize asset Fernando Alonso. The Scuderia want to capitalise on disruption in the McLaren camp after a controversial collision between Button and team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the Canadian Grand Prix. A Ferrari source said: "There has been a lot of talk within Ferrari about getting Button. They have already checked to see if he would be available. "The team realise they need a stronger partner for Fernando Alonso than Felipe Massa if they want to win the title again. "They've seen Jenson prove at McLaren that he can consistently win or get on to the podium." Button, aged 31, had gone more than a year without a victory before triumphing at Montreal, despite his crash with Hamilton. Ferrari are concerned that Felipe Massa has not been the same drive since returned from his horror injury sustained at the Hungarian GP in 2009, and see reportedly see the consistent Button as the perfect replacement. Button is currently in second place in the drivers' championship, some 60 points adrift of leader Sebastian Vettel. His three-year deal with McLaren, worth £18 million, is up at the end of next season. Massa's deal with Ferrari finishes at the same time and that is when the Italian team would make their move. The News of the World claims he could receive around £10 million-a-year for three years with Ferrari.
Yeah I saw this article earlier, Jenson is a smart guy, theres no way he would ever want to be in a team where he will be the No.2 driver. Ferrari saying he will be the perfect team mate is basically them saying, yes hes fast but we're confident Alonso will beat him and Jenson will do a good job taking points of Alonso closest rivals. I doubt Jenson will go there because McLaren have equality in the team which he enjoys.
Has to be merged, surely? It's the same old same old. As I said on the other thread - this would be great for Button's CV. Williams, Honda engines, WDC, McLaren, Ferrari, smooth driver... rearrange that lot and who does it remind you of? I like seeing the top drivers move around the top teams and I think this would be good. I doubt he would be contractually bound to move over for Alonso and that would no doubt be a sticking point in his contract.
Sorry to be rude or anything... But who is this "Not606 News Team" person??? Anyway about Jenson moving... Agree with ModestMatt, Jenson would not be comfortable in a team where he is clearly the No.2 Driver.
The British would love Jenson with Ferrari, don't start lying... Also, stop repeating what we already know.... Edit: And it's unlikely with Perez in the wings, getting experience and being a "youth product" for Ferrari. Sergio will be 23 by the start of the 2013 season while Jenson would be 33 and Alonso 31-32. You need youth learning from experienced drivers to keep the flow going after they retire or there's a mass panic for the best drivers.
I saw that earlier today, but decided not to post it because of the source. How many people are going to seriously believe NOTW? There are all sorts of rumours about Felipe Massa's replacement, but I wont believe anything until I hear an announcement from Ferrari.
