Slightly less off-topic, I agree with Ernie and Chrispa. I joined this forum because I like the attitude here, intelligent but good-natured. Other fora looked more intimidating and way too serious. Here, it doesn't matter that I'm a bit of a cucumber on the tech side of it but I still learn a lot by reading others' explanations and discussions. I think people will join if they like what they see, silly digressions or not, but I can see the point of having a dedicated off-topic area too as long as it's accessible, otherwise it's likely to be neglected like The Pits is, unfortunately.
 
We're almost a seperate forum altogether, although tbh I think General Chat is populated by about 20 people with numerous alts who've driven off any serious/interesting discussions with fascination with anal sex, beastiality and lengthy discussions on which side of the religious divide in Scotland/NI is more evil. I often wonder how much more populated not606 could be without the BS in GC.

Hey Miggins it does make you wonder, what do these people do for a living, if anything, I'm all for free speech, but some of the inane stuff on General Chat defies belief.

And Goodwood festival of Speed, went to the Revival last year, brilliant !! have been informed the Speed is much better, so may well give it a try.

Must say one can get very close to the action at Goodwood and meet some interesting individuals, for example Moss, Oliver, Berger, Stewart, Needel, Chris Evans, Christ he's tall, Newey, Horner not forgetting Murray, no, not the tennis failure, Derek Bell, god he looks young with full his head of hair.

Yeah I'm going this year. Got my mate coming as well and he's a F1 virgin ;)

On a diet so I can feast for the 4 days I'm there, because it will get ugly BBQ wise!

Camping for the weekend with accompanying BBQ and coolbox full of beers and mates sounds absolutely perfect, lets hope the weather holds fine, your mate will blow his mind when he's up close to the noise, I remember when I first went and Stewart screamed past in the blue slightly sideways Tyrell, through Clearways at Brands, I cried, absolutely ****ing incredibly brilliant, words cannot describe.

I'll PM you my mobile nearer the day maybe we could say "hello"

 
Yeah Ernie, sounds good. Hopefully a Brit wins it this year, dont care who but the after party would be something special to be part of.
