I disagree.

Allsop came in as a cheap option having had a less than average season at Cardiff.

Murphy has been the best player in League One this season.

I think he would be solid as a back up option, especially on a free.
He’s only started 15 games ST? Oxford’s best player this season has been Brannagan

If/when Greaves goes we probably should sign a more experienced centre-back but not as a direct replacement for Greaves. If we’re following the Brighton/Brentford model of selling our youngish talent with lots of potential for big money, we should be signing similar players who also have resale value as replacements. Selling Greaves and signing a 31-year-old on a two-year deal isn’t really sustainable. The obvious replacement for Greaves would be someone like Cashin who is also early 20s, highly-rated etc.

When Brighton sold Caicedo, they signed Baleba as a long-term replacement. We should follow this business model also. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t sign older, experienced players, just not as long-term direct replacements for our young talents that we sell.

There was some talk a short while ago about us being interested in Will Fish at Man U currently at Hibs.

To be fair a few would have expected someone like Wilks to make the step up to Championship but he didn't really. There's no telling how a League 1 player will take the step up, regardless of how well they've played as an individual.

I think it would certainly be a shrewd signing - a mix of younger potential stars and experienced heads that have done it really well at our level and slightly below would give us a good mix though.

Out of contract in the summer = equates to agents doing their job and associating their client with anyone and everyone in the market for players... I dont think 29 going on 30 from League 1 fits our current MO..

Me neither. It’s a bootleg Allam signing all over. Like I said, he’d do a job for a newly-promoted team in the Championship next year but to go from our current calibre of players to Josh Murphy is just weird. I’m hoping it’s bollocks. It’s like being linked with Mendez-Laing. There is literally no point signing these older players from lower leagues with no resale value when we already have deadwood we need to get rid of like Woods.

He would probably be a good depth option for a reasonable price. We are light of options out there particularly once the loanees are gone. Throw Philogene leaving into the mix and we have no one.

Don't know a great deal about Murphy but his trajectory is a bit alarming for me. I reckon Longman would have a good chance of tearing up League One now but we need a level above to be serious.

He was rated highly at norwich back in the day
But like lotus
It all went a bit tits up

On a potential incoming to replace Jacob should he depart, there was a lot of noise about the U21 England player Edwards at Peterborough some months ago. I haven't heard much in a while, has his form dropped off or summat?

He’s got much higher suitors now. Will be premier league bound, would have to hope for a loan.

Charlie Hughes is the best centre half in League 1 at Wigan. Much better defender and good on the ball

Potential loan then, like Southampton took Harwood-Bellis from Man Citeh.

Connecting some dots but with Tan at the Chelsea game last night and words people have said here.

Greaves to Everton then?

Edwards and Cashin are the best in League One. Hughes is also very good but not as developed. More of a prospect. Cashin makes the most sense as he wouldn’t cost as much as Edwards and is left-footed.

Another potential option is Clarke-Salter. He was about the only defender for QPR who looked remotely comfortable on the ball playing out from the back.

Still like Smythe the QPR right winger , v quick , neat feet - small and willing as an extra winger .
Reading some DQPR boards about this kid....The consensus seems to be..... 'No end product...' I wasn't that taken by Chris Willock either....If we are to press again next season then I think we'll looking for better...Perhaps there's a pearl, or two, in Europe waiting to be tapped. Another Omur...who is brilliant of us.

Issue with Cashin is that he signed a new deal and Derby look like they’re going up. Otherwise I’d love him here. If they somehow bottle it I’d make the call
