I honestly think we can get delap on another loan next season, the loan has already proved successful injury aside and it’s not like he’s going to be knocking on the me door to be starting at Man.C so I’m hopeful

Morton I feel will be a similar scenario, if he’s not in the first team plans for Liverpool he will come back to us.

As for Carvalho - we have to remember that although he didn’t have the best of times at Leipzig he’s shown his stock again with us and I would say he will have a lot of suitors my gut feeling is that Liverpool will try cash in on him and well, if he’s happy here with Acun you just never know

I think Morton's more likely for lower half PL but agree on Delap. Not sure a PL team is taking a punt on him on loan and we'll clearly offer him a lot of game time and have developed him well.

How many loan players have 2 seasons at one club?
I don’t think many do?So we will be fortunate to have any of them back.
Think the 2 Liverpool lads will stay there until late in the next window whilst the new Kloppe has a good look at them.
We need to be recruiting before then.

Giles - these were the stories coming out
Words used were obligation to buy

We all know £4-5m could be much better spent. Thought odd at the time

Yes, a lot of sources at the time said it was an obligation, while some said just an option, which is why I was so sure it was basically just being done as a loan for FFP reasons. As I mentioned above, obligation to buy can still sometimes require clauses to be met, meaning it's still an 'option'. Bit counter-intuitive. I would think though that the clauses would relate to number of appearances (basically protecting us from him doing his ACL on debut or something similar), and we'd therefore be triggering it on July 1.

For some context:

Purchase Obligation clauses are vital components of sports contracts, and they’re particularly prevalent in football. Imagine a scenario in football where a player is loaned to another team/club. The loaning team may include a Purchase Obligation clause in the loan agreement, that is, a clause requiring the borrowing team to permanently purchase the player at the end of the loan spell if certain conditions are met. These conditions could for example be the player scoring a certain number of goals during the loan period.

Jacob had a good game yesterday but also let that attacker get across him in the 6 yard box needs to switch on to that

Since he signed him from Luton, I don't think we have ever seen a fully fit Ryan Giles play for us.

Shouldn't be signing unfit players then in the Jan window that are expected to hit the ground running..... Plus that's why I said on evidence so far

50% of the players we signed in January window weren't 'match-fit'

Noah Ohio - LR admitted he needed time to get his fitness levels up - easier to spot unicorns than see Ohio start a game.

Abdush hadn't started for Trabzonspor since December 2023 when he signed for us due to a groin injury and being suspended by his club. So needed time to get his fitness up.

Billy Sharp - not fit after MLS season ended - no further evidence needed.

Anass Zaroury - was fit as he had played for Burnley on 31/1/2024 against Man City - had been on the bench a few times for them.

Fabio Carvalho - had been playing at RB Leipzig until the end of December 2023.

Ivo Pandur - warming the bench nicely but first choice at Fortuna Sittard.

Carvalho hadn't been starting for Leipzig I don't believe.

Apparently the club are trying to get Carvalho on a permanent.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Morton & Delap do another season with us also.

I personally think all 3 are great players but not good enough to play for their parent clubs on a regular basis.
But there's a big difference between being a regular for teams expecting to win/challenge the Premier League and Champions League and playing for Hull City.

Out of Delap, Carvalho and Morton, Delap is the most likely for us to sign permanently. Man City would probably put a buy back clause in, but it would be fantastic business. The only hiccup would be a relegated team coming in with parachute money like Chazz said.

Carvalho and Morton were none to happy a few weeks ago, but things might have been patched up after talks with LR (which may explain why we've suddenly started looking good again) and TK. Regardless, I could see both coming back on loan next season but I wouldn't have thought we'd have the money to buy Fabio. Not sure how much Liverpool would want for Morton, maybe £5m or £6m?
