It's not a binary choice between keeping Giles or just having Jacob and Furlong.
Just think 4m is a lot for a championship left back and there may be better value elsewhere.
Tymon moved for about 2.5 didn't he?
We'll have options.

There's going to be enough change as it is to the starting XI, I'm not sure trying to replace Giles is wise. There's certainly no obvious attainable alternative who's got decent experience at this level.
Doesn't that prove that Giles at £4m is a very good deal then?
I take your point on limiting churn as far as possible with the inevitable turnover already in summer. Just don't think Giles being made permanent is as nailed on as some are suggesting, that's all.
So you think we were happy to include a 4m option for ****s and giggles and had no intention of ever triggering it?
Have you considered the fact that they've been recruiting based on 2 different scenarios? Were we ever going to trigger vinagres option in the championship if he'd worked out?
Yes, the 15m option on Vinagre compared to the 4m for Giles is very comparable.
In the sense that we included an option we were never going to trigger in the championship - was that ****s and giggles?
I suspect it was insisted upon by a club desperate to get rid. Truth be told I have no idea why we had a 15m option. Similar with the option on Josh Bowler when we brought him here. Giles is completely different.
TWT, as always.
Bowler option would have been a good thing if we'd loaned him the season after we did.
Not at 5m with the owners we had.

One registered as the cross for Ohio took a deflection on the way throughTwo.
I’d go for Harrison Burrows personally but would happily sign Giles tooAgain, for example?
I never suggested it was binary, GFAW was the one who suggested they would have been adequate.
As MKO says, TWT.
Assuming we don't go up (negative twat) do people think Jacobs will be good enough as our LB next season. He'll be 23 in summer. With Furlong as back up (22 in summer). ?
£4mill is a lot for us to spend if we don't need to, or at least if it could be better used elsewhere.
I think it more likely one of those two will be loaned out and the other as backup to Giles or A.N. Other.
Haven't seen Furlong in the league yet, so have nothing to go on as to whether he's going to be up to it or not.
Jacob needs games at a good level really though. He’s signed a long deal, a season at league 1 would do him the world of good. He's a development squad player, he played in the defeat to Curacao and looked alright, didn't seem much different to Giles. Jacob is also decent cover, so if we sign Giles then I'd be happy with loaning out Furling and having Jacob as cover.
