It seems to me like interesting linked questions - whether Giles will be £4mill better than Jacob come summer + whether that £4mill would be better spent elsewhere. Not knocking Giles, I'd like us to keep him, so long as it doesn't restrict us signing what we need in other positions.
I think the 4m on Giles would provide better value than the 4m spend on another attacking player, that's for sure. Otherwise you're essentially saying we should have just kept Elder and stacked the forward line with all our spending.
Norwich have done very good business. They're another club who can sell players for big fees and replace them with the next rank of talent. It's not all Brentford and Brighton, plenty of clubs do it.
They were just too young last season, a bit like us this year but they do reinvest well on the whole. Really good academy too Everyone whinges at my hatred of loans but they've only got 1 loanee and he's only played 7 times for them so it shows you don't need loans. But building takes time and everyone wants instant success.
Everytime ive seen sainz ive been impressed They got.him in summer from a mediocre turkish team Why werent we there
You'll never get them all. It's all just opinions at the end of the day. They've made some blunders too mind as all clubs do
Makes more sense haha. Yeah maybe, though not sure he's done all that much for Norwich. Sargant much more significant. Undefeated with him in the team this season.
E.g.? Giles is the best LB in the Championship based on his track record. We should be in the business of having as many 'best of's by position.
We certainly don’t get the best out of him atm though. One assist and it was a 3 yard pass for an outside the box screamer.
It's not a binary choice between keeping Giles or just having Jacob and Furlong. Just think 4m is a lot for a championship left back and there may be better value elsewhere.
Again, for example? I never suggested it was binary, GFAW was the one who suggested they would have been adequate.
