Whichever way people try to justify it, when it comes to recruitment in that area we have tried to do it cheap and it's shown with the people we have got. There is a reason nobody else wanted Connolly, there's a reason nobody else wanted sharp etc. LR has packed the team with [HASHTAG]#10s[/HASHTAG] and wide players ( which don't get me wrong are all good players ) but has chosen not to actually have a focal point the put the ball in the net.....it's just stupid and looks like it'll be the reason we don't ( if we don't ) reach through playoffs.

It's been a obvious issue now for almost 18months and we don't look like sorting it still.

You seem to be assuming we should be spending 15m on a striker. I very much doubt we had the budget for that, so they've looked to increase our goal tally via alternative means. And compared to last season it's been somewhat successful.

You're saying so much but none of it seems considered.

No, a forward wasn't a priority, at first. But then it became one late on because of Delap's injury. Yes the injury occurred early in the window, but that is late in the day when it comes to transfers. Much like we'd been working on Carvalho and others for months, other clubs will have been working on the good strikers and it may have been too late for us to come in and get them by the time we needed one.

I think if you look around the football world you'll see countless examples of clubs, even very top ones, having to settle for low-end, stop-gap signings at times when circumstances conspire. Liverpool, whose recruitment over recent years has largely been brilliant, signing Artur Melo last year is one high-profile example off the top of my head. It has long been known that January is a hard time to buy, and I think it's a good rule that needing a player in that window at the last minute is never a good position to be in. We've not made many good January signings at all over the years when you look back.

We don't know the finances involved in buying Pandur but I think it's safe to assume that his signing didn't cost us anything like what a proven striker, or keeping Oscar, would've cost.

Firstly the finances involved in pandur would have been more then enough to keep oscar till the end of the season, bit let's just forget that.

As for delap and it being late etc, I'm sorry but you're just wrong and trying to find anything possible to justify the piss poor signing of Ohio. The club and any club for that matter will have had a complete list of multiple options in each position that could be acted on if needed to for any reason. We had a whole transfer window to find and get a deal for someone better then Ohio. It's a absolutely awful and pointless signing and there zero excuse for it..... Having a whole window isn't last minute either btw, I'd agree if delap was injured in the final week of Jan for example, but Jan 1st.... Nar.

We are were were because LR and or the club chose this route and they need to be accountable for it, if it's works then it's fantastic and they deserve all the plaudits. But if it doesn't then it's a complete and utter failure and a huge missed opportunity due to ignoring the blatantly obvious shortcomings in the squad and LRs current set up

Never going to happen. He isn't that level of asset at all. I actually think if his contract was up this summer there's a good chance we'd let him go, with the wage he's rumoured to be on. Same with Seri even though he's a key player. I think Traore will leave this summer for the same reason. I don't think the contracts we dished out in Summer 2022 fit LR's model for the club.

Well clearly he is, they're usually not that far out. He's a midfielder that's scored 8 in 2 consecutive championship seasons, he's not too old, and there will be suitors in other countries not just England.

Traore is out of contract isn't he? He won't be renewed I wouldn't think. Seri won't have any resale value due to his age, but in his case he's probably worth keeping another year anyway.

I wouldn't be to sure on Jaden, he's making noises about wanting to be in the prem next season, is he ready.....imo no, but he's wanting it. I know the clubs looking at him see him as a future prem player, so potentially we could sell him with a loan back for next season

I think that would work out best for everybody. It's what we should have done with KLP, imo.

You seem to choose not to see any nuance in these things whatsoever. Think we'll have to leave it there.

Nope. Standard Liège said no to a buy-option.

They rate him, it's a weird one because their current strikers aren't exactly pulling up trees so for him to be let go raises a bit of an eyebrow. They're way off the pace in the Belgian Pro League this season.

I didn't want to say this, but boy does he remind me of Jozy Altidore.

I thought Dogukan Sinik, Ryan Longman and Oscar are at the end of their contracts as well, hell of a rebuild coming.

Think City would love it if that were the case, but no they've all got another year by my record. We'll be trying to find new homes for them again in the summer.

I'm of the opinion. that if LR somehow manages to get this group promoted then he's a 100 times better manager than I and others give him credit for, because it will be an 'in spite' of promotion...

I understand it all to well, hence why I'm so strong in my opinion that it's an absolute awful signing that made zero sense at all.

We've ****ed up, you're allowed to admit it without being labelled negative etc ;)

It wouldn't have made a shred of difference to his agent what happened, is was KLP who didn't want to do it

Apparently he's been warmer to the idea more recently though, If Baz is to be believed, but his run in the side scuppered any chance of it happening this year.

I can see why he rejected a loan back under shota.

Might be interesting if they strengthen his position in summer.

Ohio isn’t very good technically but he’s a willing runner and offers much more of an outlet then Sharp does. He’s also scored, not surprised there’s rumours of him being annoyed after being completely omitted from the squad for Sharp despite gaining us 2 points against arguably the worst side the division has seen of which Sharp didn’t look like scoring against.
