If its not a big deal and Rosenior is using worse case... why were the words 'at least' added to the 2 to 3 months.... doesnt strike me as returning before then...

Yeah, OK. We didn't know the extent of the injury then clearly. In fact it seems we still don't, given the bit about the further scan in a few weeks to determine whether he needs surgery. That sounds significant and if he doesn't need surgery then maybe he'll be back sooner than expected, just as others have been.

Doesn't change the fact that on several occasions Rosenior has quoted a timeframe and then later said the player is way of schedule and in reality had them back sooner. I think he's cautious about quoting too short a timeframe, he mentions that a lot too.

It’s a torn meniscus. Rosenior said in one of his interviews. I had a bucket tear in my meniscus cartilage, which was repaired at the same time as my snapped ACL and LCL. The meniscus repair required 6 weeks on crutches and a leg brace.

A quick Google suggest 4 to 6 weeks for recovery if it doesn't require surgery, or 3 to 6 months if surgery is required.

They avoid surgery now if possible as they think that most of the time surgery only gives the same result as physio, just read this

Surgery
Ten years ago, if you had a confirmed meniscal tear on MRI and you were not improving after 6 weeks you may be offered an arthroscopy (keyhole surgery). However, there have been large studies published, with thousands of patients in, showing no difference in outcomes between those who had surgery and those who did not. Surgery should be considered if your knee has mechanical symptoms. Mechancial symptoms are defined as locking or clunking of the knee with a significant restriction in range of movement and pain.

Meniscal surgery is not recommended if you have underlying osteoarthritis as the research has shown poor outcomes. At this stage, the main focus is about managing the pain and undertaking regular physiotherapy. Pain management may include injection therapy, such as steroid, hyaluronic acid or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

I’ve had 4 arthroscopes on one knee and one on the other . The one I stood on for footie is the 4 one it takes all the torque . The other has been and still is perfect . My bad knee can be restricted but I’ve run , walked miles and played golf with no bother at all , but every once in a while a small bit of bone or something breaks lose wanders around my knee for a few days then disappears . I was told all they do is clean out the debris and off you go for about two years - it was true - hopefully Delaps is straightforward

Best I can do, I’m amazing at turning on the iPad but anything else an absolute moron lol

Southampton offered Fabio Carvalho 'perfect project' before he snubbed them

Southampton were reportedly keen on signing Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho on loan, but he's now edging closer
Southampton were pushing to sign young midfielder Fabio Carvalho on loan from Liverpool, but he's now officially moved to fellow Championship side Hull City. Journalist Dean Jones has spoken to GIVEMESPORT about how the Saints were able to offer him the perfect project, but will be disappointed to have missed out.

Russell Martin's side are closely trailing behind Leicester City and Ipswich Town in the Championship as they fight for a top-two finish, which will guarantee promotion to England's top flight. In their pursuit of an immediate return to the Premier League, the Saints could be considering bringing in reinforcements during the January transfer window.

It's been easy to attain the right players in the winter, with selling clubs unwilling to sanction departures for some of their key stars. Martin and his recruitment team had identified Carvalho as someone who would benefit the Southampton squad, but they failed to get a deal over the line.

Southampton were keen on Carvalho
Carvalho started the campaign on loan with German side RB Leipzig, but the Portuguese youth international struggled to make a major impact in the Bundesliga. As a result, Liverpool opted to terminate his temporary move early while searching for another club for Carvalho to spend the remainder of the season with.

It's not quite worked out for Carvalho at Liverpool so far, but at the age of 21, the former Fulham midfielder still has plenty of room to grow and develop. A more suitable loan spell will be hugely beneficial, and Hull City have officially announced that Carvalho will spend the remainder of the term with the Championship outfit. However, Hull certainly weren't the only club who were hoping to convince the youngster to sign on the dotted line.

As per MailOnline, Southampton were one of the sides who were interested in securing the signature of Carvalho, with Leicester also keen on the midfielder. David Ornstein recently reported that the 21-year-old had the choice to move to both Hull and Southampton, but the former ultimately won the race. The Athletic reporter claims that talks with Tyler Morton, who is also on loan from Liverpool, helped convince Carvalho to join the Tigers.
Journalist Jones previously told GIVEMESPORT that Carvalho would 'rip it up' at the Saints and he would have given them an excellent chance of gaining promotion back to the Premier League. However, Martin and his recruitment team will be forced to go back to the drawing board.
Dean Jones - Southampton offered 'the perfect project'
Jones has suggested that Southampton offered Carvalho the perfect project with the ideal playing style to help him get back to his best, and the Saints will be disappointed to have lost the race to secure his signature. The journalist adds that he's surprised the former Fulham man opted to join Hull over Southampton. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said...
"Of all the clubs that missed out on Carvalho, I think Southampton are the most disappointed. I think that they were offering him the perfect project under the perfect playing style to get back to doing what he did best. If he was to replicate what he did at Fulham in the Championship, I think Southampton was his best chance of doing that. So I'm extremely surprised to be honest that he decided not to go down that route. But Southampton don't have time to kind of curse their luck over that one. They've got to move on quickly."
Thanks Red.

My son in law has just had keyhole surgery on his knee (he knackered it playing for junior's five a side team) and it's amazing how little damage they do to the knee to do the operation, he's only got one clean scar line. In fact, the only scar he's going to end up with, is from the bit they cut out his thigh to graft on to the knee.

How long does he think he will be out for ?.

Can he play left back?

He had the operation a couple of weeks before Christmas, he's now walking fairly normally and driving again and he returned to work in the New Year. They were surprised at how quickly it was healing, but they've told him he should probably not play football any more, as it could easily break down again.

My meniscus healed quite quickly, it was torn in 4 places. The rest of the knee reconstruction has been the biggest challenge. I’d imagine Delap will be at the lower end of the scale as he has age on his side and access to the best medical teams, physios and rehabilitation equipment.

That must be gutting for the lad,but at least he is able to do most things normally again and maybe just like most people they probably won't accept it and eventually he will try to play again would not be surprised if he has already mentioned that.

Not play football any more !!!! oh no Delaps career is over. I hope he listened at school and has some GCSE's

So it won't be 3 months then? People are jerking their knees unnecessarily? Is that what you're trying to say here?

It could be 3 months. We have no idea really. What I was saying, is that taking Rosenior's actual words, putting it through a few layers of Chinese whispers, rounding up an extra month for good measure and then saying we might as well call it the season at that point, isn't a realistic appraisal.

True but you are omitting the 'typical City' variable in your reasoning.

He's gutted and I wouldn't be surprised if he had another go at some point, though as he's been told not to and he's married to my daughter, it might prove difficult. <laugh>

Hull City are closing in on their third signing of the January transfer window with Ivor Pandur expected to sign a contract with the Championship club in the next 48 hours.

Pandur jetted in from the Netherlands for his medical on Wednesday ahead of his move from Fortuna Sittard, after both clubs agreed a fee in the region of £1.5m for the 23-year-old.

Boss Liam Rosenior says Pandur is a goalkeeper City have followed for a period of time and have done extensive research work on ahead of making their move for the Ere Divisie stopper.

The Tigers chief says the Croatian Under-21 international will need time to settle into English football, but believes he has the capability of challenging both Ryan Allsop and Matt Ingram for the number one jersey at the MKM Stadium.

"I'll be really honest, that's the one that's pretty much down to medicals," Rosenior told Hull Live. "He's an outstanding young goalkeeper, and I think he's got a lot of potential. We've watched him for a long time, obviously coming from another country he's going to need an acclimatisation period for the Championship.
