I didn’t realise that…so it could be BS & Delap is only out for a month or. Radio version of click bait??

No, just speculation on a podcast.
Let’s ****ing hope so if a temporary replacement isn’t in the works it could be pivotal in whether we can get over the line.

Judge for yourselves.

About 30m 40s or so into today's episode.

At Sunderland next Friday would like to go there and see us with a chance of scoring, if they do a number on us like the other week it’ll be a waste of a night out I could have had in Newcastle. Never seen us win there - maybe I’m a jinx !

I can think of few less appropriate replacements for Delap's raw speed and powerful running than a 33-year old Abel Hernandez.

With 3 pacey young lads behind him in Philogene, Carvalho and Twine(?) he should bang them in for fun - as should Sharp to be fair.

But he's a deadly finisher at this level and his goalscoring record is still decent, I don't think it'll happen in a million years mind.

A large part of our style of play relies on high pressing. Not as intense as the gegenpressing Liverpool and German teams use but Delap and Tufan both cover a lot of yards up top off the ball. Abel, as good as he was, never did that when he was in his 20s and in his prime, let alone as a 33-year-old.

If we wanted a poacher there was nobody better at the club this season than Óscar but his off-the-ball play was deemed not good enough for our style of play so Rosenior let him go. Though we really should’ve had a replacement already here before letting him go as many of us predicted a situation where either or both of Delap and Connolly would be unavailable due to fatigue or injury.

I’m not usually a fan of the romantic fantasies of ex-players returning, in general we should be looking forward not back. But someone like Abel who hangs around the goal and bangs them in would be very welcome. Especially after watching some of our youngsters keep playing football around the edge of the box and passing to each other in apparent indecision. Like Hudd, valued on how much he could teach the young uns in training as much as his match day performance.

An interesting argument for and against Abel. I genuinely agree with both sides of that discussion. Won't happen regardless though.
