The Watford game was pretty much Exhibit A why we need someone like him. Philogene misses a penalty and we end up losing a game we should've won. Put Billy on that penalty and we probably win the game and it's an 3 extra points

Put Tufan on for that penalty and we probably win the game. It's not really as simple as saying 'if we put a good penalty taker on we'd have scored the penalty'. He'll likely come on for the last 20-30 minutes of games. We missed the pen on 60 minutes.

If he scores 4+ then I'll be happy, anything less and it'll feel a bit of a waste - depending on the context of the goals I guess.

Seem to be missing the elephant in the room. Billy will be on an absolute fraction of what Oscar was on here and happy to be a bit part player whereas Oscar wanted to play.
Absolutely.I assumed getting Oscar off the books enabled us to give us some FFP leeway (esp to sign Philo)I know it didn’t happen in that order, but was pretty clear that was the plan. He was fully expecting to get Davies in, so left us short in that area, but we have coped well so far and almost got through to January with a replacement already in place.
Not sure it would be Rosenior’s style to make a press statement saying a player’s not worth the money (especially when he’s stil our player) we are paying him and our budget is stretched as far as it will go.
Going by all the fuss about Oscar’s going, he must have had a fantastic first half of the season.

When you have a **** season at that age it's reasonably rare to suddenly have a good one the year after. If even LA aren't triggering his extension I'm not sure he's going to offer much on the pitch for us. It's a bit Liam Ridgewell-y, but at least Sharp has the experience and ability to offer coaching advice to Delap.
According to a mate who has been a blade pass holder all his life (he’s actually all right apart from that), a lot thought he could still have done a job in premier league this season and were gutted he was released. Certainly doesn’t sound like a **** season, so I’m quite happy to have him playing here 5 months later at a level lower and on the back of scoring 1 in 2 since then.
So maybe similar to Oscar situation here (in terms of a lot thinking he could do a job), but at a higher level and due to ffp, enabling us to get a high earner off our books. And I suspect Rosenior probably knows a thing or two about who will and who won’t fit into our playing method.

I suspect they would have been happy having him play in the PL for the same reason we were happy to have Deano.

This recent interview Sharp does with Ben Foster sheds a bit of light on why he didn't get his extension. He was going to get a huge amount of money if they triggered it. His manager wanted to but the board didn't.

Orders of magnitude a more accomplished player than Billy Sharp, and even he has only managed 6 goals so far in a runaway title topping team.

Makes for a good perspective.

Played 9 starting and 9 as a sub, total 888 min championship game minutes that's a goal every 148 min every 1.5 games so is not bad.

I think Billy Sharp will do something similar to what our previous experienced players have done (I’m thinking Henrik Pedersen). He’ll still look good at this level and do his bit for the team, without being the star. We’ll soon wish we had him a few years ago and he probably won’t last more than a half, but that’s fine.

The biggest impact he could make, as others have mentioned, is teaching proper finishing to Delap.

Therefore it’d be a dream if we somehow managed to buy Delap before Man City realise how good he actually is/worth.

No it’s not and if Sharp managed to do that I would be dead chuffed, but this is a guy who was probably a £100m+ goal scorer and premier league golden boot winner just 3 or 4 years ago who has only managed 6 in 18.

I’m not so sure about this, Delap has spent years at what is now possibly the best football academy in the world. If you think he wasn’t taught proper finishing there and Billy Sharp is going to coach him into a goal scorer in 6 months?
